The complete mitochondrial genome of an undescribed gnomefish species of the genus was determined using a PCR-based method. The total length of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) was 16,521 bp, and included 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes and one control region. The mitochondrial gene arrangement of this gnomefish species was identical to that of two previously described scombropid species, and , and also to those of other teleosts. Maximum likelihood analysis showed that the undescribed scombropid species is most closely related to .

Telomerase, constituted by the dynamic duo of telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT), the catalytic entity, and an integral RNA component (TERC), is predominantly suppressed in differentiated human cells due to postnatal transcriptional repression of the TERT gene. Dysregulation of telomerase significantly contributes to cancer development via telomere-dependent and independent mechanisms. Telomerase activity is often elevated in advanced cancers, with TERT reactivation and upregulation of TERC observed in early tumorigenesis.

Kinetoplastids display a single, large mitochondrion per cell, with their mitochondrial DNA referred to as the kinetoplast. This kinetoplast is a network of concatenated circular molecules comprising a maxicircle (20-64 kb) and up to thousands of minicircles varying in size depending on the species (0.5-10 kb).

, a marine benthic diatom, holds promise for human nutrition and health as well as for aquaculture applications. However, the scarcity of organelle genome data within the Navicula clade has impeded a comprehensive understanding and utilization of this group. Our research presents a pioneering exploration into the complete mitochondrial and chloroplast genome sequences of CACC 0356, shedding light on its phylogeny and evolutionary history.

The mitochondrial genome, highly conserved across species, is crucial for species identification, phylogenetic analysis, and evolutionary research. and , two species with significant forensic value, have been understudied in terms of genetic data. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genomes of (15,623 bp) and (15,729 bp) were sequenced and analyzed.
