We aimed to assess the association of whole blood with thromboembolic milieu in significant mitral stenosis patients. We included 122 patients and classified patients into two groups as having thrombogenic milieu, thrombogenic milieu (+), otherwise patients without thrombogenic milieu, thrombogenic milieu (-). Whole blood viscosity (WBV) in both shear rates were higher in thrombogenic milieu (+) group comparing with thrombogenic milieu (-). WBV at high shear rate and WBV at low shear rate parameters were moderately correlated with grade of spontaneous echo contrast. Adjusted with other parameters, WBV parameters at both shear rates were associated with presence of thrombogenic milieu. We found that extrapolated WBV at both shear rates was significantly associated with the thrombogenic milieu in mitral stenosis. This easily available parameter may provide additional perspective about thrombogenic diathesis.

Background: The clinical significance of echocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) in risk stratification of left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombogenic milieu, as a surrogate for cardioembolic risk, in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and HADS-VASc scores of 0-2 is unknown.
Methods And Results: We enrolled 707 consecutive patients with AF and CHADS-VASc scores of 0-2 who underwent transesophageal echocardiography. LAA thrombogenic milieu was defined as the presence of a thrombus, severe spontaneous echo contrast, sludge in the LAA, or LAA flow velocity ≤ 20 cm/s.

Tissue-engineered vascular grafts (TEVGs) poised for regenerative applications are central to effective vascular repair, with their efficacy being significantly influenced by scaffold architecture and the strategic distribution of bioactive molecules either embedded within the scaffold or elicited from responsive tissues. Despite substantial advancements over recent decades, a thorough understanding of the critical cellular dynamics for clinical success remains to be fully elucidated. Graft failure, often ascribed to thrombogenesis, intimal hyperplasia, or calcification, is predominantly linked to improperly modulated inflammatory reactions.

Microcirculatory and coagulation disturbances commonly occur as pathological manifestations of systemic viral infections. Research exploring the role of the kallikrein-kinin system (KKS) in flavivirus infections has recently linked microvascular dysfunctions to bradykinin (BK)-induced signaling of B2R, a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) constitutively expressed by endothelial cells. The relevance of KKS activation as an innate response to viral infections has gained increasing attention, particularly after the reports regarding thrombogenic events during COVID-19.

Aims: Prostate cancer is among the highest incidence malignancies in men with a prevalence rate increasing in parallel to the rising global trends in metabolic disorders. Whereas a sizeable body of evidence links metabolic impairment to negative prognosis of prostate cancer, the molecular mechanism underlying this connection has not been thoroughly examined. Our previous work showed that localized adipose tissue inflammation occurring in select adipose depots in early metabolic derangement instigated significant molecular, structural, and functional alterations in neighboring tissues underlying the complications observed at this stage.

Background: The present study aimed to investigate the prevalence, predictors, and management of left atrial appendage (LAA) thrombogenic milieu (TM) identified with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) patients with low to moderate thromboembolic (TE) risk.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the baseline clinical data and TEE findings in 391 NVAF patients (54.7 ± 8.
