Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is an important high-performance thermoplastic. Its excellent strength, stiffness, toughness, fatigue resistance, biocompatibility, chemical stability and radiolucency have made PEEK attractive in dental and orthopedic applications. However, PEEK has an inherently hydrophobic and chemically inert surface, which has restricted its widespread use in clinical applications, especially in bonding with dental resin composites. Cutting edge research on novel methods to improve PEEK applications in dentistry, including oral implant, prosthodontics and orthodontics, is reviewed in this article. In addition, this article also discusses innovative surface modifications of PEEK, which are a focus area of active investigations. Furthermore, this article also discusses the necessary future studies and clinical trials for the use of PEEK in the human oral environment to investigate its feasibility and long-term performance.

This review discusses the properties of strongly oxidizing radicals in organic and aqueous media and highlights the challenges in obtaining accurate values of their reduction potentials. Transient redox equilibrium methods based on the use of strong photooxidants or initiated by pulse radiolysis are shown to provide versatile approaches for decoupling electron transfer reactions from follow-up reactivity of unstable radical species, resulting in accurate values of reduction potentials of very positive couples, including some solvent radical cations. We also show that correlations of reduction potentials with Hammett ∑+p parameters, as well as gas phase ionization potentials, can be used to estimate the redox properties of unknown couples within a homologous series of compounds.

Background: People with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) commonly report a higher fatigue intensity than the general population. However, effective fatigue management is lacking because little is known about other fatigue characteristics, including timing, distress, and quality, as well as the potential fatigue subtypes experienced in people with T2DM.
Objective: To describe fatigue intensity, timing, distress, and quality, and identify fatigue subtypes in people with T2DM.
Objective: Posttraumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) and moral injury (MI) are possible negative outcomes of combat military service. While PTSS is known to be associated with impaired paternal parenting, no study has examined the association between MI and parenting. This study examined associations between military-related PTSS, MI, and multiple measures of parenting among veteran fathers.
