Mutagenic effect of zinc chloride on Salmonella typhimurium strain was detected using in vitro metabolic activation system. Cadmium chloride showed no significant mutagenic activity in the same system. It is recommended to use both in vitro and in vivo metabolic activation systems in mutagenicity testing of chemicals.

This study carried out a quantitative structure-activity relationship hazard assessment of the banned pesticides in Nigeria with a view of identifying the dangers posed by these pesticides. Structure-activity relationships (SARs) and quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSARs), which link a compound's chemical structure to its biological activity, can be used to create safer and more effective insecticides, prioritize chemicals for testing, and reduce the number of animal studies necessary throughout the regulatory process. The QSAR hazard assessment of the banned pesticides was carried out on the VEGA software.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) represents a significant global health challenge, with approximately 1.8 million new cases diagnosed annually and a mortality toll exceeding 881,000 lives each year. This study aimed to evaluate the chemoprotective efficacy of Cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G) in a rat model of CRC induced by 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH).

Biogenesis of human telomerase requires its RNA subunit (hTR) to fold into a multi-domain architecture that includes the template-pseudoknot (t/PK) and the three-way junction (CR4/5). These hTR domains bind the telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) protein and are essential for telomerase activity. Here, we probe hTR structure in living cells using dimethyl sulfate mutational profiling with sequencing (DMS-MaPseq) and ensemble deconvolution analysis.

Introduction: Programmed death-1 (PD-1) is a negative regulator of immune responses. Upon deletion of PD-1 in mice, symptoms of autoimmunity developed only after they got old. In a model experiment in cancer immunotherapy, PD-1 was shown to prevent cytotoxic T lymphocytes from attacking cancer cells that expressed neoantigens derived from genome mutations.

N-Nitrosamines, many of which are carcinogenic, mutagenic, and teratogenic, are disinfection byproducts (DBPs) formed from the reaction of chloramine with nitrogenous organic compounds during water disinfection. The identification of major nitrosamine precursors is important to understand and prevent nitrosamine formation. In this analysis, we propose that efforts to identify nitrosamine precursors must look beyond conventionally evaluated active agent chemicals to consider inert or inactive chemicals as potentially relevant precursors.
