is an endemic species living in the karst regions of South China. In the present study, we firstly performed the complete mitogenome sequence of (Cyprinidae: Labeoninae). Results showed that the mitogenome was 16,596 bp in length and contained 37 genes (i.e. 13 protein-coding, 22 transfer RNA, and two ribosomal RNA genes) and a single control region. The genetic arrangement and distribution of the mitogenome were consistent with that of other vertebrates. Phylogenetic analysis of the protein-coding genes indicated that Labeoninae species could be divided into three branches. showed close evolutionary relationship with . This study should help to improve our understanding of the mitogenomes and phylogenetics of Labeoninae, and provide a foundation for further taxonomic, systematic, and genetic studies.

Malaria has been a leading cause of death in human populations for centuries and remains a major public health challenge in African countries, especially affecting children. Among the five Plasmodium species infecting humans, Plasmodium falciparum is the most lethal. Ancient DNA research has provided key insights into the origins, evolution, and virulence of pathogens that affect humans.

Black-goggled tanagers Trichothraupis melanops (Vieillot, 1818) are passerine birds commonly observed in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, Argentina and Paraguay. Tanagers are among the passerines with the highest prevalence and density of coccidian parasites, mainly due to their frugivorous feeding habits that favor fecal-oral transmission. In this context, the current study identifies a new species of Isospora Schneider, 1881 parasitizing black-goggled tanagers captured in the Itatiaia National Park, a protected area with a high degree of vulnerability in Southeastern Brazil.

Background: Mitochondrial dysregulation contributes to the chemoresistance of multiple cancer types. Yet, the functions of mitochondrial dysregulation in Ovarian serous cystadenocarcinoma (OSC) remain largely unknown.
Aim: We sought to investigate the function of mitochondrial dysregulation in OSC from the bioinformatics perspective.

Background: Effective treatment for Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains an unmet need. Thus, identifying patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) who are at high-risk of progressing to AD is crucial for early intervention.
Methods: Blood-based transcriptomics analyses were performed using a longitudinal study cohort to compare progressive MCI (P-MCI, n = 28), stable MCI (S-MCI, n = 39), and AD patients (n = 49).

Background: Tea-oil Camellia within the genus Camellia is renowned for its premium Camellia oil, often described as "Oriental olive oil". So far, only one partial mitochondrial genomes of Tea-oil Camellia have been published (no main Tea-oil Camellia cultivars), and comparative mitochondrial genomic studies of Camellia remain limited.
Results: In this study, we first reconstructed the entire mitochondrial genome of C.
