The black carp (), native to eastern Asian, is a large, commercially valuable fish, and has been widely introduced to other countries. In this study, the mitochondrial gene sequence of gray black carp ( MT084757) in Foshan, Guangdong Province was first determined using the Sanger sequencing method. The mitochondrial DNA genome was 16,616 bp in length, including 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), two rRNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and a non-coding control region (D-loop). The overall nucleotide composition of the mitochondrial DNA is 32.04% A, 24.52% T, 15.68% C, 27.76% G, with 56.56% AT, respectively. Phylogenetic tree analysis suggests that the gray black carp ( MT 084757) is closely related to and . The complete mitochondrial genome of the gray black carp ( MT 084757) would be useful for researching the causes of changes in body color.

Mammalian SUMO specific peptidase 2 (SENP2) plays vital roles in a variety of biological procedures including the immune response. However, the effects of teleost SENP2 are still mostly unexplored. In this study, the SENP2 of black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus) was cloned and characterized.

Heat shock cognate 70 (HSC70), a highly conserved molecular chaperone in the heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) family, plays an essential role in maintaining the homeostasis of the cellular environment. Furthermore, although previous studies have investigated potential function of HSC70 in innate antiviral immunity, further research is still required to fully elucidate its role. In this study, we cloned and characterized the HSC70 homolog gene from black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus), which consists of 1950 nucleotides encoding 650 amino acids, migrates at approximately 71 kDa on SDS-PAGE, and is distributed in the cytoplasm.
