Patient stories can serve as educational tools for healthcare providers. Inherent risks to the patients sharing their medical stories do exist. Despite the positive impact that patient storytelling can have in healthcare delivery, it is important to ensure the safety of those patients who chose to share their medical experiences. A novel questionnaire was developed by a diverse group of healthcare and patient partner experts. This questionnaire would serve as a self-reflective tool that prospective storytellers would complete in order to assess their readiness to proceed with storytelling as an educational tool. This draft questionnaire was then distributed to the 10 prospective patient storytellers registered to complete our pilot workshop on preparing the patient stories where they were asked to provide feedback. Overall, feedback was positive, and minor alterations were made to the questionnaire, resulting in the novel creation of this readiness assessment tool.
As demanding as dancing en pointe is, no universal standard exists to determine when a ballet dancer is ready to advance to this next level. The goal of this study was to provide preliminarily tested and reliable guidelines for a screening tool that can be used to determine (1) if a dancer is ready for pointe, (2) reasons why a dancer may not be ready, and (3) areas for improvement to guide training and preparation. Seventeen dancers aged 9 to 17 years with a minimum 4 years of ballet and who were either possibly ready for pointe or had been in pointe class less than 3 months participated in this study.
Background: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) poses significant diagnostic challenges, especially in resource-limited settings. Reliable tools such as the 6-item Symptom Severity Index, Timed Phalen's Test (TPT) and CTS-6 are promising but under investigated. Background: The gold standard for assessing neonatal jaundice (NJ) is the serum total serum bilirubin (TSB) level by the diazo method. A transcutaneous bilirubinometer (TCB) provides a convenient, noninvasive readout within minutes. The reliability of TCB as the diagnostic tool and the proper site for TCB measurement remains unsettled.
Objectives: To address whether TLICS or AOSpine is best used in clinical practice through assessment of interobserver and intraobserver reliability, agreement, and imaging modality performance.
