The liver is the most vital organ that could be influenced by inducers of hypersensitivity such as ovalbumin. The current study was carried out to explore the effects of butterbur () extract on the ovalbumin-induced liver hypersensitivity in Swiss albino male mice. Animals were divided into 4 groups, 1 group served as a control group, 2 group treated with daily oral administration of 75 mg/kg of butterbur extract, 3 group received single oral dose 100 mg/kg of ovalbumin to induce hypersensitivity, and 4 group treated with oral administration of butterbur extract one-day post to the hypersensitivity induction. Ovalbumin induces a significant increase in the activity of liver enzymes and MDA and decreased the activity of CAT after the ovalbumin treatment. Histopathological investigations revealed marked pathological alterations in liver tissues in the form of hyaline degeneration and fibrosis. Additionally, heavy immune response indicated by immunostaining of MDA and TNF- could be observed. In contrast, posttreatment with butterbur extract after hypersensitivity induction resulted in a significant decrease of liver enzymes and oxidative stress and reduced the inflammation and fibrosis of liver tissues. These results suggest that butterbur extract is considered as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant therapeutic herb for hypersensitivity treatment of liver.

Extracts obtained from common butterbur (), standardized to petasins, are existing pharmaceutical options for the treatment and/or prevention of allergic rhinitis (leaves) and migraine (rhizomes). In this study, the total phenolic content, flavonoid content, and antioxidant potential of ten samples of Croatian species (four , four , one , and one ) obtained by ultrasound-assisted extraction of leaves were compared. The total phenolic content (Folin-Ciocalteu assay) of methanolic leaf extracts ranged from 4.

Aims And Objective: In this research, multicomponent reactions of cefixime, isothiocyanates, and alkyl bromides were carried out for the synthesis of new iminothiazole derivatives with high yields in water as the solvent at room temperature in the presence of catalytic amounts of Cu@KF/CP NPs as catalysts. Also, the ability of Cu@KF/Clinoptilolite nanoparticles (NPs) to adsorb and remove 4-NP and cefixime from water was investigated. The Cu@KF/Clinoptilolite nanoparticles were synthesized by employing a water extract of Petasites hybridus rhizomes.

Our review paper evaluates the impact of plant-based products, primarily derived from plants from Serbia, on P-glycoprotein (P-gp) activity and their potential in modulating drug resistance in cancer therapy. We focus on the role and regulation of P-gp in cellular physiology and its significance in addressing multidrug resistance in cancer therapy. Additionally, we discuss the modulation of P-gp activity by 55 natural product drugs, including derivatives for some of them, based on our team's research findings since 2011.

Background: The intensified search for low-threshold herbal anti-viral drugs would be of great advantage in prevention of early stages of infection. Since the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant has prevailed in western countries, the course has only been mild, but there are still no widely available drugs that can alleviate or shorten disease progression and counteract the development of Long-COVID. This study aimed to investigate the antiviral effects of a CO-extract from Petasites hybridus (Ze 339).
