Although severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) primarily affects the respiratory system, neurological symptoms were reported both during acute and post-acute COVID-19. Notably, patients with no history of epilepsy or other neurological conditions developed new-onset refractory status epilepticus (NORSE) weeks, months, or even up to a year following the viral infection. While NORSE is uncommon, it carries a high mortality rate and can result in permanent epilepsy.

Background: In recent years, sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) have emerged as a valuable treatment for type 2 diabetes (T2D) and heart failure. Despite these medications seeming to be safe in older people, the literature about SGLT2i and frailty is still limited. This study aims to evaluate whether SGLT2i use is associated with increased survival in older adults and if frailty can affect the findings.

Author analyses the process of care of somatic symptom disorder in the general medical practice with special concern to iatrogenic harms. In his opinion the latency of the patients' first appointment with a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist is caused by multiple factors. In recent years, the increasing prevalence of viral infections such as dengue (DENV) and chikungunya (CHIKV) has emphasized the vital need for new diagnostic techniques that are not only quick and inexpensive but also suitable for point-of-care and home usage. Existing diagnostic procedures, while useful, sometimes have limits in terms of speed, mobility, and price, particularly in resource-constrained environments and during epidemics. To address these issues, this study proposes a novel technique that combines 3D printing technology with electrochemical biosensors to provide a highly sensitive, user-friendly, and customizable diagnostic platform.

Genome skimming has dramatically extended DNA barcoding from short DNA fragments to next generation barcodes in plants. However, conserved DNA barcoding markers, including complete plastid genome and nuclear ribosomal DNA (nrDNA) sequences, are inadequate for accurate species identification. Skmer, a recently proposed approach that estimates genetic distances among species based on unassembled genome skims, has been proposed to effectively improve species discrimination rate.
