According to South Korea's Ministry of Employment and Labor, approximately 25,000 construction workers suffered from various injuries between 2015 and 2019. Additionally, about 500 fatalities occur annually, and multiple studies are being conducted to prevent these accidents and quickly identify their occurrence to secure the golden time for the injured. Recently, AI-based video analysis systems for detecting safety accidents have been introduced.

Sensor-based gesture recognition on mobile devices is critical to human-computer interaction, enabling intuitive user input for various applications. However, current approaches often rely on server-based retraining whenever new gestures are introduced, incurring substantial energy consumption and latency due to frequent data transmission. To address these limitations, we present the first on-device continual learning framework for gesture recognition.

Background/objectives: Predicting the effects of protein and DNA mutations on the binding free energy of protein-DNA complexes is crucial for understanding how DNA variants impact wild-type cellular function. As many cellular interactions involve protein-DNA binding, accurately predicting changes in binding free energy (ΔΔG) is valuable for distinguishing pathogenic mutations from benign ones.
Methods: This study describes the development and optimization of the SAMPDI-3Dv2 machine learning method, which is trained on an expanded database of experimentally measured ΔΔGs.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is a potent glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in regulating innate and adaptive immunity, as well as metabolism. The expression and release of IL-6 are closely correlated with the severity of various diseases. IL-6-inducing peptides are critical for the development of immunotherapy and diagnostic biomarkers for some diseases.
