Direct femtosecond laser writing of tracks in the volume of silver-containing zinc phosphate glass is investigated. Tracks were written by the femtosecond laser irradiation with the wavelength of 1030 nm, the pulse duration of 180 fs and a scanning speed of 1 mm/s. The data shows the effect of the pulse repetition rate (10, 100 and 500 kHz) and the pulse energy (60-120 nJ) on the microstructure and optical properties of the laser-written tracks. The data was collected by optical microscopy in the brightfield and fluorescence mode. Moreover, the data shows the dependence of the width and height of the laser-written tracks on the pulse energy and pulse repetition rate.

A comparative study of anti-cancer photodynamic activities of three-component zinc-tetraphenylporphyrin photosensitizer/dextran--polyacrylamide copolymer/Au(Ag) nanoparticle (ZnTPP/D--PAA/Au(Ag)NP) nanohybrids on LNCaP prostate cancer cells was carried out under 420 nm light irradiation with low power. A significant cytotoxic effect was revealed for both ZnTPP/D--PAA/AgNP and ZnTPP/D--PAA/AuNP nanohybrids, where ZnTPP/D--PAA/AgNP nanohybrids exhibited considerably higher anticancer activity (82%) compared to ZnTPP/D--PAA/AuNP nanohybrids (45%). The higher activity of silver-containing nanohybrids is rationalized based on two factors.

Yeast may be regarded as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly biosorbent for complex effluent treatment. The effect of pH, contact time, temperature, and silver concentration on metal removal from silver-containing synthetic effluents using was examined. The biosorbent before and after biosorption process was analysed using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and neutron activation analysis.

The optoelectronic advantages of anchoring plasmonic silver and copper particles and non-plasmonic titanium particles onto zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoflower (NF) scaffolds for the fabrication of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are addressed in this article. The metallic particles were sputter-deposited as a function of sputtering time to vary their size on solution-grown ZnO NFs on which methylammonium lead iodide perovskite was crystallized in a controlled environment. Optical absorption measurements showed impressive improvements in the light-harvesting efficiency (LHE) of the devices using silver nanoparticles and some concentrations of copper, whereas the LHE was relatively lower in devices used titanium than in a control device without any metallic particles.

An ideal dressing should ensure that the wound remains moist with exudates but not macerated. Currently, there is no dressing available to suit all wounds, at all stages of the healing process. Although silver-containing dressings are the gold standard for burn wound care, few high-level trials have been completed comparing the clinical utilities of these dressings.
