Introduction And Importance: Amlodipine is a third-generation calcium channel blocker used in the treatment of hypertension. One of the side effects associated with amlodipine is gingival hyperplasia mostly occurring at a higher dose (10 mg). There are very few cases of gingival hyperplasia associated with amlodipine at a lower dose (5 mg) or short-term administration.

Background: β-blockers are no longer considered as first-line antihypertensive drugs due to their lower cardioprotection.
Method: Considering the differences in the pharmacological properties of β-blockers, the present work compared the effects of third-generation β-blockers - carvedilol and nebivolol - with a first-line agent - amlodipine - on hemodynamic parameters, including short-term blood pressure variability (BPV), and their ability to prevent target organ damage in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). SHR rats were orally treated with carvedilol, nebivolol, atenolol, amlodipine or vehicle for 8 weeks.

Uveal malignant melanoma (UMM), the most common primary adult intraocular tumor with a marked metastatic potential, is genetically unique and has unfortunately had few treatment breakthroughs. In this study, we subjected a UMM cell line to high‑throughput library screening with 1,018 FDA‑approved compounds to identify potential UMM‑selective cytotoxic agents. Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB), ranked no.
