Background: Mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP) is an autoimmune disease that can lead to fibrosis of mucous membranes and functional impairment. Biologic agents should be explored as alternative treatment options to improve outcomes.
Objective: To conduct a systematic review of biologic treatment outcomes in patients with MMP.
Methods: A MEDLINE and Embase search was conducted on July 23, 2020, to include 63 studies using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses guidelines.
Results: Use of intravenous immunoglobulin (n = 154), rituximab (n = 112), tumor necrosis factor α inhibitors (n = 7), and combination treatments (n = 58) were reported in 331 patients with MMP. Intravenous immunoglobulin led to complete resolution in 61.7% (n = 95/154) of patients within 26.0 months, with a recurrence rate of 22.7% (n = 35/154) and headache as the most common adverse effect (8.4%, n = 13/154). Rituximab led to complete resolution in 70.5% (n = 79/112) of patients within 8.7 months, with a recurrence rate of 35.7% (n = 40/112). The most commonly reported adverse effects were urinary tract infections (4.5%, n = 5/112), leukocytopenia (2.7%, n = 3/112), and death due to severe infections (1.8%, n = 2/112). Tumor necrosis factor α inhibitors led to complete resolution in 71.4% (n = 5/7) of patients within 3.9 months of treatment without reported adverse events.
Conclusions: Randomized clinical trials with long-term follow-up are required to conclude the promising safety and efficacy of biologic agents in patients with MMP.

During the COVID-19 lockdown in China, the shift of family members' work and study to online platforms accelerated internet proliferation and led to a growing prominence of internet addiction among younger age groups, posing a threat to individual and societal health development. Previous research has primarily focused on upper-grade elementary students, with relatively less attention given to younger age groups, resulting in insufficient representativeness of the elementary student samples. Additionally, research exploring how parental addictive behaviors are associated with the mechanisms of internet addiction among elementary students has been limited, which affects the development of scientifically based and effective intervention measures for addressing internet addiction in this population.

17-Estradiol (E2) is a natural steroidal estrogen essential for a variety of physiological functions in organisms. However, external E2, which is renowned for its potent biological effects, is also considered to be an endocrine-disrupting compound (EDC) capable of disturbing the normal operation of the endocrine system, even at nanogram-per-liter (ng/L) concentrations. Studies have revealed that medical and livestock wastewater can be contaminated with E2, which poses potential risks to human health.

Membrane trafficking is a conserved process required for import, export, movement, and distribution of proteins and other macromolecules within cells. The Caenorhabditis elegans NIMA-related kinases NEKL-2 (human NEK8/9) and NEKL-3 (human NEK6/7) are conserved regulators of membrane trafficking and are required for the completion of molting. Using a genetic approach we identified reduction-of-function mutations in tat-1 that suppress nekl-associated molting defects.

Introduction: Opioid withdrawal is a regular occurrence for many people who use illicit opioids (PWUIO) involving acute physical and psychological pain. Yet, there is very little data on the withdrawal experience of people in methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) and almost none from the patients' experience. Learning more about patients' withdrawal experiences can help to inform policies and practices that are better suited to address withdrawal and may improve patient satisfaction as well as uptake and retention.

Feed cost represents about 70% of the total production costs of rabbit farms. There is little research on the usage of Berseem and Fenugreek seeds as substitutes for soybeans in rabbit diets. The current investigation was conducted to assess the influence of dietary inclusion of Fenugreek and/or Berseem seeds at varying levels as a substitute for soybean meal on reproductive performance, milk production, maternal behaviour, economic efficiency, mammary gland and ovarian histology, and relative expression of reproductive genes of New Zealand White rabbit does.
