Immunotherapy has emerged during the past two decades as an innovative and successful form of cancer treatment. However, frequently, mechanisms of actions are still unclear, predictive markers are insufficiently characterized, and preclinical assays for innovative treatments are poorly reliable. In this context, the analysis of tumor/immune system interaction plays key roles, but may be unreliably mirrored by in vivo experimental models and standard bidimensional culture systems. Tridimensional cultures of tumor cells have been developed to bridge the gap between in vitro and in vivo systems. Interestingly, defined aspects of the interaction of cells from adaptive and innate immune systems and tumor cells may also be mirrored by 3D cultures. Here we review in vitro models of cancer/immune cell interaction and we propose that updated technologies might help develop innovative treatments, identify biologicals of potential clinical relevance, and select patients eligible for immunotherapy treatments.

The rise of big data and the internet of things has driven the demand for multimodal sensing and high-efficiency low-latency processing. Inspired by the human sensory system, we present a multifunctional optoelectronic-memristor-based reservoir computing (OM-RC) system by utilizing a CuSCN/PbS quantum dots (QDs) heterojunction. The OM-RC system exhibits volatile and nonlinear responses to electrical signals and wide-spectrum optical stimuli covering ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared (NIR) regions, enabling multitask processing of dynamic signals.

A series of CoFe2O4 materials derived from metal-organic framework were successfully constructed by the solvent-thermal method. The morphology of a typical sample CoFe2O4-1 was mostly in the form of a cubic rod-like structure with a size distribution of 3.2 ± 0.

The Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway is essential for maintaining homeostasis during embryogenesis and in adult tissues. In the liver, dysregulation of this pathway often leads to liver cancer development. Recent studies also suggest that disturbances in the Hh pathway can affect liver metabolism in healthy livers through interactions with other signaling pathways, such as the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.

Static friction, a ubiquitous physical phenomenon, plays a significant role in natural processes and industrial applications. Its influence is particularly notable in the field of controlled micromanipulation and precision manufacturing, where static friction often exceeds kinetic friction and leads to material damage and unpredictable behaviors. In this study, we report the first experimental observation of the elimination of static friction peak in sliding micrometer contacts of layered materials, achieved through a technique involving selective etching of the amorphous edges of single crystalline surfaces.

The antiferromagnetic structure of Yb_{3}Ga_{5}O_{12} is identified by neutron diffraction experiments below the previously known transition at T_{λ}=54 mK. The magnetic propagation vector is found to be k=(1/2,1/2,0), an unusual wave vector in the garnet structure. The associated complex magnetic structure highlights the role of exchange interactions in a nearly isotropic system dominated by dipolar interactions and finds echoes with exotic structures theoretically proposed.
