The increasing use of products for medicinal, dietary, and recreational purposes has raised concerns about mycotoxin contamination in cannabis and hemp. Mycotoxins persist in these products' post-processing, posing health risks via multiple exposure routes. This study investigated cytotoxic and genotoxic interactions between cannabidiol (CBD) and the mycotoxin citrinin (CIT) using human cell models: SH-SY5Y, HepG2, HEK293, and peripheral blood lymphocytes.

Background: Activin A, a noteworthy member of the TGF-β superfamily. Activin A can regulate the biological functions of various immune cells, such as macrophages, neutrophils, NK cells, etc. The purpose of this study is to investigate the regulatory effect and related mechanisms of activin A on CD8 T cells.

Objectives: This article aimed to investigate the correlation between blood immune cells and the prognosis in the early phase of pediatric sepsis and construct a prediction model for pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) mortality.
Methods: A total of 348 children admitted with sepsis to our PICU were retrospectively collected between January 2020 and June 2024. Of these, 242 children admitted from January 2020 to October 2022 were designated as the modeling group, while 106 children admitted between November 2022 and June 2024 were designated as the prospective validation group.

Introduction: Despite achieving sustained viral response (SVR) after treatment with direct-acting antivirals (DAAs), the risk of liver disease progression and extrahepatic complications in chronic hepatitis C (CHC) remains. We aimed to determine the role of residual HCV-RNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), a condition known as occult hepatitis C (OCI), and systemic inflammatory markers as predictors of long-term outcomes in patients treated with DAAs.
Methods: We followed 42 patients treated with DAAs with OCI status determined after therapy, for a median of 6.

Novel biomarkers are needed to better identify-and distinguish-heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) from other clinical phenotypes. The goal of our study was to identify epigenetic-sensitive biomarkers useful to a more accurate diagnosis of HFpEF. We performed a network-oriented genome-wide DNA methylation study of circulating CD4 T lymphocytes isolated from peripheral blood using reduced representation bisulfite sequencing (RRBS) in two cohorts (i.
