Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of oyster oligopeptide (OOP) at different doses on testosterone secretion and its regulating mechanism in partial androgen deficiency syndrome of aging male.
Methods: The cyclophosphamide-induced partial androgen deficiency syndrome of the aging male rats were treated with a low, medium and high dose of OOP for 6 weeks.
Results: Cyclophosphamide could decrease levels of total testosterone and luteinizing hormone in serum, and testosterone and glutathione peroxidase in testis, and increase malondialdehyde, and downregulate the mRNA expression of steroidogenic acute regulatory protein, steroidogenic acute regulatory-related lipid transfer domain 7 and P450 cholesterol side chain cleavage enzyme in testis (P < 0.05). All these changes were reversed by OOP co-administration with different doses, although, OOP at a low dose did not increase serum testosterone, luteinizing hormone and testicular glutathione peroxidase levels.
Conclusions: OOP treatment with different doses can effectively reduce oxidative stress in testicular tissue, promote the synthesis of testosterone and then prevent the formation of partial androgen deficiency syndrome of the aging male, with optimal effect at medium dose. Although the impact of gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) on spermatogenesis in trans women has already been studied, data on its precise effects on the testicular environment is poor. Therefore, this study aimed to characterize, through histological and transcriptomic analysis, the spermatogonial stem cell niche of 106 trans women who underwent standardized GAHT, comprising estrogens and cyproterone acetate. A partial dedifferentiation of Sertoli cells was observed, marked by the co-expression of androgen receptor and anti-Müllerian hormone which mirrors the situation in peripubertal boys.

Ductal carcinomas, a variant of salivary gland cancer, are characterized by concurrent androgen receptor (AR) positivity and overexpression of HER2, making them potential targets for tailored therapies extensively explored in literature. We present two consecutive cases of patients diagnosed with inoperable metastatic ductal carcinoma, both displaying HER2 overexpression and AR positivity, who underwent combination therapy involving chemotherapy and dual targeted agents. Both patients diagnosed with centralized inoperable ductal carcinoma were retrospectively analyzed and received trastuzumab, docetaxel, leuprolide and bicalutamida as first-line therapy until progression, defined by RECIST criteria.

Background: Endogenous steroid hormone assessment is essential for clinical practice. These hormones are typically measured in blood. More recently, measurement of steroids in hair samples has been gaining in popularity, so we have reviewed the methodologies used for this to-date.

Despite the great relevance of the neurosteroid allopregnanolone and related isomers to various health conditions, quantification typically involves immunoassay, which suffers from serious issues with cross-reactivity of closely related molecules. This article describes the development and partial validation of a liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry assay for the simultaneous quantification of allopregnanolone, pregnanolone, isopregnanolone, epi-allopregnanolone, and testosterone in the human serum of healthy males and females aged 5-85 years. 1-amino-4-methylpiperazine (AMP) was used as a derivatisation reagent to enhance the ionisation signal.
