Published: February 2021

We report a highly concentrated electrolyte consisting of 4 M potassium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (KFSI) in diethylene glycol dimethyl ether (DEGDME). This new electrolyte enables stable cycling of K metal anodes with a high CE (over 98% over 400 cycles), and excellent capacity retention (99.7% after 500 cycles) of K||potassium Prussian blue (KPB) batteries.

Stereolithography three-dimensional (3D) printing technology enables the customization of ceramic-based solid electrolyte structures with desired electrochemical properties; however, formulating slurries that both are highly ceramic-loaded and have low viscosity for printing poses a challenge. Here, we propose an ionogel-coated ceramic approach to prepare a shear-thinning fast-ion conductor ceramic (LiLaZrTaO) slurry, which possesses both a high ceramic content of 50 wt % and a low viscosity of 1.53 Pa·s.

Synthetic organic dye such as methylene blue (MB) is non-biodegradable and highly toxic, released from textile wastewater. This work investigates the applicability of Ni@ZnO polymer nanocomposite for MB removal from the wastewater. To understand their differences before and after MB adsorption, composites' surface morphology was characterized by various techniques including scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transformation infrared (FT-IR) and UV-Vis spectrophotometer.

The aromatic compound β-phenylethanol (2-PE) is inherently toxic and can inhibit cell activity in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, making it highly challenging to enhance strain tolerance through rational design due to the lack of reliable connections between tolerance phenotype and genetic loci. This study employed adaptive laboratory evolution strategy to investigate the tolerance characteristics of S. cerevisiae S288C under inhibitory concentrations of 2-PE.

Highly Efficient and Durable Ammonia Electrolysis Cell Using Zirfon Separator.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

January 2025

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Pohang University of Science and Technology, Gyeongbuk, 37673, Republic of Korea.

Most studies on ammonia electrolysis have focused on anion exchange membranes (AEMs), which face limitations in operating conditions, such as pH and ammonia concentration. This study introduces a novel concept of an ammonia electrolysis cell (AEC) utilizing a Zirfon separator capable of operating under high pH and ammonia concentrations. The Zirfon-based AECs achieve a peak current density of 915 mA cm, representing the highest reported value in AEC literature.

Alendronate sodium (ALN) is used to treat osteoporosis in men and women who experienced menopause. A new, sensitive, environmentally friendly, selective, and reasonably priced spectrofluorimetric technique was devised for ALN determination utilizing the reaction of the drug with ninhydrin and phenylacetaldehyde in the presence of Teorell-Stenhagen buffer (pH 7). The interaction yielded a highly luminescent diaryl pyrrolone product with strong emission at 464 nm following excitation at 390 nm.
