In this work level of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAHs) from indoor Environment Tobacco Smoke (ETS) of pubic bars in Nigeria was investigated. Indoor air samples were obtained from different public bars using Polyurethane foam (PUF) passive samplers. Analysis of PAHs was carried out using GC-MS operated in selected ion monitoring mode. Result showed the average concentration range of 2.71-9.69 ng/m while the ∑ 16 PAHs range from 43.43 to 155.11 ng/m. The incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) values from inhalation of PAHs in these bars ranged from 2.4×10-5.2×10 while non-carcinogenic risk, Hazard Quotient (HQ) ranged from 2×10-4.5×10. Although these values are lower than WHO permissible limit, nevertheless the study underscores the danger associated with the inhalation of ETS in the public bars in Nigeria.

Background And Aims: Pectus carinatum (PC) is the second most common deformity of the anterior chest wall, resulting in detrimental effects on body image and quality of life. This study evaluated the safety, effectiveness, and factors associated with the treatment of PC using a sandwiched bar and screw fixation system, first performed in Vietnam at the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City in 2016.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study was conducted from March 2016 to February 2023 in patients with PC and PC-mixed pectus excavatum (PE) deformities.

Purpose: We aim to ascertain the extent to which the blood urea nitrogen (BUN) to serum albumin (ALB) ratio (BAR) could be implemented to anticipate the short- and long-term prognosis of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients in intensive care units (ICUs).
Methods: The data was derived from the Marketplace for Intensive Care Medical Information-IV (MIMIC-IV v3.0) database, primarily pertaining to AIS patients as categorized by the International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-9 and ICD-10.

This paper provides a case study of one medical experiment conducted in 1915 by the United States Public Health Service in collaboration with the Mississippi State Penitentiary. The experiment was non-therapeutic and its objective was to induce pellagra (a vitamin deficiency disease) in twelve healthy White male prisoners to confirm its etiology. Extant archival records produced by the convict participants, state politicians, and health researchers underscore that the men selected for the pellagra experiment were unique among incarcerated people in Mississippi at the time: they were White, wealthy, and politically well-connected.

Here we report four experiments that explore the nature of perceptual averaging. We examine the evidence that participants recover and store a representation of the mean value of a set of perceptual features that are distributed across the optic array. The extant evidence shows that participants are particularly accurate in estimating the relevant mean value, but we ask whether this might be due to processes that reflect assessing featural similarity rather than computing an average.
