Introduction: Pain and inflammatory disorders are the most prevalent syndromes. Different herbs were used for treatment of pain and inflammation including members of the genus . As a result, this research investigated the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of 80% methanol leaf extract of in mice.
Methods: The analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of the plant was evaluated using hot plate method, acetic-acid induced writhing test, and carrageenan and formalin induced paw edema. Three experimental groups (100, 200, and 400 mg/kg) received the extract while morphine 10 mg/kg and aspirin 150 mg/kg were used as a positive control for analgesic and anti-inflammatory tests accordingly. Distilled water (10 mL/kg) was used as negative control.
Results: From the experimental groups, OI400 displayed significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities (<0.001). In acetic acid induced writhing tests, the number of writhes decreased significantly (<0.001) in all experimental groups. Similarly, OI400 reduced the mean paw edema significantly in carrageenan and formalin induced paw edema (<0.05 and <0.001, respectively).
Conclusion: In general, the results obtained in this study demonstrated that the extract exhibited significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory potential in mice.

Background: Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) is a common clinical problem that can result in partial or complete loss of sensory, motor, and autonomic functions. Tetrahydropalmatine (THP), a Corydalis yanhusuo-derived phytochemical alkaloid, possesses hypnotic, soothing, analgesic, and other effects, but little is known about the effect of THP on moderating peripheral nerve regeneration and its possible underlying mechanism of action.
Purpose: In this study, we aim to elucidate the protective function of THP on PNI and further reveal the underlying pharmacological mechanisms.

Objective: In the United States, on average, every 15 s, someone visits a hospital emergency department (ED) for a dental condition. This commentary summarizes the recommendations from a 2024 clinical practice guideline for the pharmacological management of acute dental pain associated with tooth extractions and toothache applicable to ED settings, hospitals, and urgent care clinics where definitive dental treatment is not immediately available.
Methods: A guideline panel convened by the American Dental Association, the ADA Science & Research Institute, the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and Penn Dental Medicine examined the effect of opioid and non-opioid analgesics; local anesthetics, including blocks; corticosteroids; and topical anesthetics on acute dental pain.

Objective: The present study aimed to compare time to effective pain relief between diclofenac 75 mg intramuscular (IM) and tramadol 50 mg intravenous (IV) for ED patients with acute renal colic.
Methods: A randomised, double-blinded, sham-controlled, superiority trial was conducted. Patients diagnosed with acute renal colic (hydronephrosis and/or stone visualisation on point-of-care ultrasound) in the ED were randomly assigned to receive an IM injection of 75 mg of diclofenac or IV tramadol 50 mg.

The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of anti-inflammatory-impregnated gelatin sponges in spine surgeries. Gelatin sponges are increasingly used as delivery vehicles for anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs during spine surgeries. However, concerns about their safety and efficacy persist.

Background: In patients with sepsis, platelets are activated and adhere to neutrophils, forming platelet-leukocyte aggregates (PLAs) that lead to the development of MODS. ARDS is one of the main manifestations of septic MODS. We designed this study to explore the effects of different anti-plate therapy drugs on platelet activation and platelet-leukocyte aggregate (PLA) formation in the early stage of septic ARDS.
