The low photoluminescence quantum yield of Bi-doped lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) is a big challenge to the scientific community. This makes them a weak candidate in the optoelectronics field in spite of their better stability than the pure lead analogue. Herein, the reason behind this reduction of quantum yield in hybrid mixed lead-bismuth bromide (MPBBr) NC is investigated and proposed to be due to ultrafast trapping transfer in the core of the NC, and not due to the surface trap states. Further, we have successfully boosted the quantum yield of MPBBr NC from 9% to 64% by passivating the deep traps within the crystal core by monovalent potassium ion doping. The stability of the developed Bi/K-doped lead halide perovskite NC was found to be extremely high in atmospheric conditions, and this property is sustained up to 100 °C.

A new twofold interpenetrated 3D metal-organic framework (MOF), namely, poly[[μ-aqua-diaqua{μ-2,2'-[terephthaloylbis(azanediyl)]diacetato}barium(II)] dihydrate], {[Ba(CHNO)(HO)]·2HO}, (I), has been assembled through a combination of the reaction of 2,2'-[terephthaloylbis(azanediyl)]diacetic acid (TPBA, HL) with barium hydroxide and crystallization at low temperature. In the crystal structure of (I), the nine-coordinated Ba ions are bridged by two μ-aqua ligands and two carboxylate μ-O atoms to form a 1D loop-like Ba-O chain, which, together with the other two coordinated water molecules and μ-carboxylate groups, produces a rod-like secondary building unit (SBU). The resultant 1D polynuclear SBUs are further extended into a 3D MOF via the terephthalamide moiety of the ligand as a spacer.

Since its discovery, carbon quantum dots (CDs) have been widely applied in cell imaging, drug delivery, biosensing, and photocatalysis due to their excellent water solubility, chemical stability, fluorescence stability biocompatibility, low toxicity, and preparation cost. However, the low fluorescence yield and poor surface structure limit the application of CDs. Heteroatom doping is considered an ideal method to improve CDs' optical and electrical properties.

1,4-Azaborine-based arenes are promising electroluminescent emitters with thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), offering narrow emission spectra and high quantum yields due to a multi-resonance (MR) effect. However, their practical application is constrained by their limited operational stability. This study investigates the degradation mechanism of MR-TADF molecules.

The photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB), a cationic dye, and bromocresol green (BCG), an anionic dye, was investigated using oxygen vacancy-enriched ZnO as the catalyst. These dyes were selected due to their differing charges and molecular structures, allowing for a deeper exploration of how these characteristics impact the degradation process. The catalyst was prepared by reducing ZnO with 10% H/Ar gas at 500°C, and the introduction of oxygen vacancies was confirmed using various characterization techniques.

Epinephrine (Ep) is an important neurotransmitter, which plays an important role in the nervous system and glycogen metabolism of living organisms. Hence, a novel NCQDs/FeCoFe-PBA composite with FeCoFe-Prussian blue analogues (PBA) as the core and nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (NCQDs) as the shell was constructed by a one-pot hydrothermal method, and it was used for the efficient detection of Ep. As a good electroactive material, NCQDs in the composite not only improved the weak conductivity of FeCoFe-PBA, but also limited the self-aggregation of FeCoFe-PBA, and formed a uniform shell on FeCoFe-PBA.
