Objective: Aldosterone synthase deficiency (ASD) is a rare autosomal recessive inherited disease with an overall clinical phenotype of failure to thrive, vomiting, severe dehydration, hyperkalemia, and hyponatremia. Mutations in the CYP11B2 gene encoding AS are responsible for the occurrence of ASD. Defects in CYP11B2 gene have only been reported in a limited number of cases worldwide.

Road properties of cement-phosphogypsum-red clay under dry and wet cycles.

In this paper, the road performance and mechanism of cement-phosphogypsum-red clay (CPRC) under dry and wet cycling were systematically investigated using 5% cement as curing agent, the mass ratio of phosphogypsum: red clay = 1:1, and 5% SCA-2 as water stabilizer. The road performance of dry and wet cycle mix was verified with the National Highway G210 Duyun Yangan to Yingshan Highway Reconstruction and Expansion Project as a test road to provide a scientific basis for the application of cement-phosphogypsum-red clay on roads. The results show that the cement-phosphogypsum-red clay unconfined compressive strength decreases with the increase of the number of wet and dry cycles, with a larger decay in the first three times and leveling off thereafter.

Anyone recounting the history of cognitive psychology will have to make early mention of the study of orthographic processing (starting in 1886 with the seminal work of Cattell, a doctoral student of Wilhelm Wundt); and anyone recounting the study of orthographic processing will have to make mention of Jonathan Grainger. An honorary member and former president of the European Society for Cognitive Psychology, Jonathan has dedicated nearly four decades of research to the mechanisms driving the recognition of letters, words and sentences during reading. In honour of Jonathan's career-which formally has come to a close in 2023-in this Special Issue several contemporaries and close collaborators highlight important advances that have been made in the past 40 years, and provide flavours of where the field stands today.

Arthritis is characterized by the progressive degeneration of articular cartilage, and the avascular nature of cartilage limits its capacity for self-repair. Stem cells are considered a promising treatment option due to their multipotent differentiation potential. The aim of this work was to investigate the structural changes in the hyaline articular cartilage of the knee joint in a model of arthritis induced by complete Freund's adjuvant, and to assess intra-articular injection of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) through both histological and immunohistochemical study.
