Background: Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is a kind of visceral adipose tissue with close proximity to coronary artery and myocardium, which can secrete cell factor, and influence the physiological function and pathophysiological process of myocardium and coronary artery. Clinical imaging diagnosis showed that the volume and thickness of EAT exists a certain relevance with coronary artery disease, but it lacked evidence of evidence-based medicine. The research on the implementation of this program will systematically evaluate the relationship of computed tomography (CT) quantitative EAT and coronary artery disease.

Method: The English databases (Embase, PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science) and Chinese database (CNKI, Wanfang, China biomedical database, VIP) of computer retrieval has collected the case control clinical study of relationship between EAT and coronary artery disease from the establishment of the database to October 2020, which was conducted extraction and quality evaluation by 2 researchers independently for data included in the study, and was conducted Meta-analysis for the included literature by adopting RevMan5.3 software.

Result: The research evaluated the correlation between EAT and coronary artery disease through the EAT thickness, EAT volume, and other indexes.

Conclusion: The research has provided reliable evidence-based evidence for the correlation between CT EAT quantification and coronary artery disease.

Ethics And Dissemination: We will not publish private information from individuals. This kind of systematic review does not involve harming the rights of participants. No ethical approval was required. The results can be published in peer-reviewed journals or at relevant conferences.

Importance: Treatment to lower high levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) reduces incident coronary artery disease (CAD) risk but modestly increases the risk for incident type 2 diabetes (T2D). The extent to which genetic factors across the cholesterol spectrum are associated with incident T2D is not well understood.

Objective: To investigate the association of genetic predisposition to increased LDL-C levels with incident T2D risk.

When the heart deceives: a case report of hyperthyroidism disguised as STEMI in female pregnant patient.

Egypt Heart J

January 2025

Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine, Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Gunung Jati, Kesambi Street No. 56, Cirebon, West Java, 45134, Indonesia.

Background: Acute myocardial infarction during pregnancy is a rare condition with an incidence of 1 to 10 per 100,000 deliveries. ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is dominating the clinical presentation. It is estimated that 29% of the patients had normal coronary arteries, and hyperthyroidism may be associated with coronary vasospasm.

Late-onset Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

Rheumatol Int

Department of Rheumatology, Immunology and Internal Medicine, University Hospital in Kraków, Kraków, Poland.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune rheumatic disease (ARD) that results from the dysregulation of multiple innate and adaptive immune pathways. Late-onset SLE (Lo-SLE) is the term used when the disease is first diagnosed after 50-65 years, though the standard age cut-off remains undefined. Defining "late-onset" as lupus with onset after 50 years is more biologically plausible as this roughly corresponds to the age of menopause.

Background: Heart failure (HF) is a heterogeneous clinical syndrome affecting a growing global population. Due to the high incidence of cardiovascular risk factors, a large proportion of the Western population is at risk for heart failure. Oxidative stress and inflammation play a crucial role in the pathophysiology of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).

Coronary artery calcification is an impediment to percutaneous coronary interventions by obstructing the device pathway or stent deployment. To facilitate percutaneous coronary intervention in such complex lesions, high-pressure balloon dilations, atherectomy procedures, and specialty balloons are used but they all come with considerable limitations and periprocedural complications like dissection and perforation. To surpass these disadvantages, intravascular lithotripsy was introduced which acts by delivering high-pressure pulsatile sonic waves circumferentially thereby destroying the calcium deposits.
