Identifying processes that promote coral reef recovery and resilience is crucial as ocean warming becomes more frequent and severe. Sexual reproduction is essential for the replenishment of coral populations and maintenance of genetic diversity; however, the ability for corals to reproduce may be impaired by marine heatwaves that cause coral bleaching. In 2014 and 2015, the Hawaiian Islands experienced coral bleaching with differential bleaching susceptibility in the species Montipora capitata, a dominant reef-building coral in the region.

Background: Improvement in gene modifications of donor pigs has led to the prevention of early cardiac xenograft rejection and significantly prolonged cardiac xenograft survival in both heterotopic and orthotopic preclinical non-human primate (NHP) models. This progress formed the basis for FDA approval for compassionate use transplants in two patients.
Methods: Based on our earlier report of 9-month survival of seven gene-edited (7-GE) hearts transplanted (life-supporting orthotopic) in baboons, we transplanted 10 gene-edited pig hearts into baboons (n = 4) using non-ischemic continuous perfusion preservation (NICP) and immunosuppression regimen based on co-stimulation blockade by anti-CD40 monoclonal antibody.
Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-fusion proteins resulting from chromosomal rearrangements are promising targets for cancer immunotherapy. While ALK-specific CD8+ T cells and epitopes presented on MHC class I have been identified in patients with ALK-positive malignancies, little is known about ALK-specific CD4+ T cells. We screened peripheral blood of ten ALK-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALK+ALCL) patients in remission and six healthy donors for CD4+ T-cell responses to the whole ALK-fusion protein, nucleophosmin (NPM1)::ALK.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of dental pulp stem cell-derived exosomes (DPSCs-Exos) on the biological behaviour of fibroblasts, particularly on keloid fibroblasts (KFs) and normal skin fibroblasts (NFs), with a view to providing new insights into cellular regenerative medicine. We obtained DPSCs-Exos by ultracentrifugation and co-cultured it with KFs and NFs. We detected its effect on cell proliferation using the CCK-8 assay; cell migration ability by cell scratch and Transwell assays; extracellular matrix synthesis using the hydroxyproline content assay; the expression levels of genes associated with fibrosis by PCR assay; and the expression levels of proteins related to fibrosis in the cells using the Western Blot method.
