In this study, the mitogenome sequences of Korean indigenous stag beetle, , was completely determined by next-generation sequencing analysis. The complete mitogenome of has 15,421 bp in length and consists of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and one control region. The gene orders and content were identical with previously recorded mitogenomes of Lucanidae species. Phylogenetic analysis based on mitogenome dataset, consisting PCGs was revealed the taxonomical position in the family Lucanidae.

Focusing on the Yashkun population of Gilgit-Baltistan, an administrative territory in northern Pakistan, our study investigated mtDNA haplotypes as indicators of ancient gene flow and genetic diversity. Genomic DNA was extracted and evaluated for quality using agarose gel electrophoresis. The complete control region of mtDNA (nt 16024-576) was amplified via PCR, and sequencing was performed using the Big Dye Terminator Kit on an Applied Biosystems Genetic Analyzer.

The tripartite ancestral structure is a recently proposed model for the genetic origin of modern Japanese, comprising indigenous Jomon hunter-gatherers and two additional continental ancestors from Northeast Asia and East Asia. To investigate the impact of the tripartite structure on genetic and phenotypic variation today, we conducted biobank-scale analyses by merging Biobank Japan (BBJ; n = 171,287) with ancient Japanese and Eurasian genomes (n = 22). We demonstrate the applicability of the tripartite model to Japanese populations throughout the archipelago, with an extremely strong correlation between Jomon ancestry and genomic variation among individuals.

Background: Hemoplasma infections in cattle are caused by Mycoplasma wenyonii and Candidatus Mycoplasma haemobos and induce asymptomatic or chronic infections but occasionally lead to life-threatening hemolytic anemia. Despite the global distribution of bovine hemoplasmas, information regarding their transmission vectors and prevalence is still lacking in the Republic of Korea. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the infection rate of bovine hemoplasma in cattle and houseflies and to assess the risk factors associated with hemoplasma infection in cattle.
