Published: September 2019

Here, the complete chloroplast (cp) genome of was reported. The genome is 155,531 bp long, with a GC content of 36.71%, and contains four sub-regions: 84,395 bp of large single copy (LSC) and 16,218 bp of small single copy (SSC) regions, separated by 27,459 bp of inverted repeat (IR) regions. A total of 129 genes were annotated, including 83 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes. The Phylogenetic analyses based on the whole cp genome sequence placed into a clade containing , , , and . This is the first complete cp genome for that would be useful for phylogenetic and population genetic studies of this species.

is a member of the Styracaceae family, which is well-known for its remarkable ornamental and medicinal properties. In this research, we conducted comparative analysis of the chloroplast genomes from four samples of representing . The results demonstrated that the chloroplast genome of four samples ranging from 157,103 bp to 158,357 bp exhibited a typical quadripartite structure, including one large single-copy (LSC) region (90,131 bp to 90,342 bp), one small single-copy (SSC) region (18,467 bp to 18,785 bp), and two inverted repeat regions (IRs) (24,115 bp to 24,261 bp).

Background: Zanthoxylum L., an important genus in the Rutaceae family, has great edible and medical values. However, the high degree of morphological similarity among species and the lack of sufficient chloroplast (cp) genomic resources have greatly impeded germplasm identification and phylogenetic analyses of
