Although most red algae produce agar and carrageenan, produces funoran as polysaccharide component. In this study, the complete mitochondrial genome was determined. It had a circular mapping molecular with the length of 25,636 bp and contained 49 genes including 24 protein-coding, two rRNA, and 23 tRNA. Phylogenetic analysis showed that . was separated with the other polysaccharide-producing red algae. This is the first report of complete mitochondrial genome from funoran producing red algae.

Polar marine macroalgae thrive in extreme conditions, often displaying geographic isolation and high degree of endemism. The "phycosphere" refers to the zone around the algae inhabited by microrganisms. Our study used DNA metabarcoding to survey the eukaryotic communities associated with seven seaweed species obtained at King George Island (South Shetland Islands, maritime Antarctic), including two Rhodophyta, two Chlorophyta and three Phaeophyceae.

Spectroscopic technology is an effective method for estimating rice chlorophyll content. However, redundant spectral information and the complex background of rice in situ challenge the accuracy and robustness of the estimation. To address this problem, this study proposed a band selection method combining spectral color characteristics and established a convolutional neural network (CNN) model based on this method to estimate chlorophyll content of rice for black (background-free), clear, muddy, and green algae-covered backgrounds.
