We propose a cost-effective narrow bandpass filter based on a guided-mode resonance (GMR) structure, operating at full conical mounting configuration. Two additional layers above the GMR structure with designed geometry is considered to create a large angle of incidence (AOI) on the GMR structure with an almost normal AOI on the entire structure. In the visible wavelength range, the transmission spectrum contains three peaks: two peaks that are due to the GMR effect and one that is due to thin-film interference. The modal characteristic of the two GMR peaks is identified using a matrix method for the n-layer waveguide structure. The two GMR peaks with bandwidths of ∼1 and ∼0.5 correspond to the fundamental TE and TM modes, respectively. The GMR peaks can be pushed away from the thin-film interference peak by modulating the grating depth.

In this paper, we have investigated a hybrid metamaterial seven-layer solar absorber. The absorber has remarkable characteristics, including ultra-broadband perfect absorption capability, near-perfect absorption at wide angles, and insensitivity to polarization. The structure exhibits an average absorption of 98.

This paper demonstrates the novel approach of sub-micron-thick InGaAs broadband photodetectors (PDs) designed for high-resolution imaging from the visible to short-wavelength infrared (SWIR) spectrum. Conventional approaches encounter challenges such as low resolution and crosstalk issues caused by a thick absorption layer (AL). Therefore, we propose a guided-mode resonance (GMR) structure to enhance the quantum efficiency (QE) of the InGaAs PDs in the SWIR region with only sub-micron-thick AL.

Retinal microsurgery is a high-precision surgery performed on a delicate tissue requiring the skill of highly trained surgeons. Given the restricted range of instrument motion in the confined intraocular space, snake-like robots may prove to be a promising technology to provide surgeons with greater flexibility, dexterity, and positioning accuracy during retinal procedures such as retinal vein cannulation and epiretinal membrane peeling. Kinematics modeling of these robots is an essential step toward accurate position control.

Concrete is widely used in civil engineering applications and the natural aggregates which used in concrete are scarce, but its demand is increasing. The disposal of rubber tyres poses a significant environmental challenge, as their decomposition releases harmful chemicals into the soil and water bodies over many years. Decomposition of tyres should be done in a smart way and hence came the emergence of mixing recycled rubber crumbs into concrete as Rubberised Concrete (RC).
