Case report: High-grade serous tubo-ovarian carcinoma with fusion and insights into targetability.

Front Oncol

December 2024

Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, CA, United States.

Article Synopsis
  • Fusion is an emerging target in precision oncology, found in various solid tumors, but research is often focused on more common types, creating challenges in treatment planning for rare cases.
  • The case presented involves a rare high-grade serous tubo-ovarian carcinoma with a unique fusion, which responded briefly to the drug futibatinib.
  • The study explores the possible mechanisms behind this fusion and highlights difficulties in predicting how effective targeted therapies will be for different tumor types that share similar structural variants.

Introduction: Adult spinal Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) presents a treatment challenge due to ongoing controversies. Traditional approaches such as curettage with bone grafting and internal fixation are preferred for severe cases involving mechanical instability, neurological deficits, or deformity. This study aimed to explore the efficacy of a customized approach involving simple posterior instrumentation without curettage or bone grafting in treating adult spinal LCH.

Percutaneous sonography-guided treatment of Dupuytren contracture under liquid immersion. Case reports.

Int J Surg Case Rep

January 2025

Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Erasme University Hospital, Brussels, Belgium. Electronic address:

Introduction: Dupuytren's contracture is a fibrotic disorder of the palmar fascia, leading to debilitating finger deformities. Traditional treatments, like open fasciectomy and collagenase injection, carry high risks of complications and recurrence. Ultrasound-guided techniques offer a potentially safer, minimally invasive alternative but are limited by the irregular skin surfaces and flexion deformities in Dupuytren's disease.

November 2024

Universidade Federal de São Paulo, Departamento de Neurologia e Neurocirurgia, São Paulo SP, Brazil.

Background:  Alterations of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) in the chronic stage of ischemic stroke (IS) are not well understood. Heart rate variability (HRV) provides a noninvasive approach to assess autonomic function.

Objective:  To compare the HRV parameters during the sleep-wake cycle between patients with IS in the chronic stage and healthy subjects.
