Spin waves are excitations in ferromagnetic media that have been proposed as information carriers in hybrid spintronic devices with much lower operation power than conventional charge-based electronics. Their wave nature can be exploited in majority gates by using interference for computation. However, a scalable spin-wave majority gate that can be cointegrated alongside conventional electronics is still lacking. Here, we demonstrate a submicrometer inline spin-wave majority gate with fan-out. Time-resolved imaging of the magnetization dynamics by scanning transmission x-ray microscopy illustrates the device operation. All-electrical spin-wave spectroscopy further demonstrates majority gates with submicrometer dimensions, reconfigurable input and output ports, and frequency-division multiplexing. Challenges for hybrid spintronic computing systems based on spin-wave majority gates are discussed.

Nonlinear interactions of spin-waves and their quanta, magnons, have emerged as prominent candidates for interference-based technology, ranging from quantum transduction to antiferromagnetic spintronics. Yet magnon multiplication in the terahertz (THz) spectral region represents a major challenge. Intense, resonant magnetic fields from THz pulse-pairs with controllable phases and amplitudes enable high order THz magnon multiplication, distinct from non-resonant nonlinearities such as the high harmonic generation by below-band gap electric fields.

The interaction between light and cold atoms is a complex phenomenon potentially featuring many-body resonant dipole interactions. A major obstacle toward exploring these quantum resources of the system is macroscopic light propagation effects, which not only limit the available time for the microscopic correlations to locally build up, but also create a directional, superradiant emission background whose variations can overwhelm the microscopic effects. In this Letter, we demonstrate a method to perform "background-free" detection of the microscopic optical dynamics in a laser-cooled atomic ensemble.

Layered van der Waals (vdW) magnets can maintain a magnetic order even down to the single-layer regime and hold promise for integrated spintronic devices. While the magnetic ground state of vdW magnets was extensively studied, key parameters of spin dynamics, like the Gilbert damping, crucial for designing ultra-fast spintronic devices, remains largely unexplored. Despite recent studies by optical excitation and detection, achieving spin wave control with microwaves is highly desirable, as modern integrated information technologies predominantly are operated with these.

Using time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect (TR-MOKE) microscopy, we demonstrate surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) induced resonant amplification of intrinsic spin-wave (SW) modes, as well as generation of new extrinsic or driven modes at the SAW frequency, in a densely packed two-dimensional array of elliptical Co nanomagnets fabricated on a piezoelectric LiNbO substrate. This system can efficiently serve as a magnonic crystal (MC), where the intrinsic shape anisotropy and the strong inter-element magnetostatic interaction trigger the incoherent precession of the nanomagnets' magnetization in the absence of any bias magnetic field, giving rise to the 'intrinsic' SW modes. The magnetoelastic coupling leads to a rich variety of SW phenomena when the SAW is launched along the major axis of the nanomagnets, such as 4-7 times amplification of intrinsic modes (at 3, 4, 7 and 10 GHz) when the applied SAW frequencies are resonant with these frequencies, and the generation of new extrinsic modes at non-resonant SAW frequencies.

All-optical reswitching has been investigated in the half-metallic Heusler ferrimagnet Mn_{2}Ru_{0.9}Ga, where Mn atoms occupy two inequivalent sites in the XA-type structure. The effect of a second 200 fs, 800 nm laser pulse that follows the first pump pulse, when both are above the threshold for switching, is studied as a function of t_{12}, the time between them.
