We discuss Floquet engineering of dissipative molecular systems through periodic driving of an infrared-active vibrational transition, either directly or via a cavity mode. Following a polaron quantum Langevin equation approach, we derive correlation functions and stationary quantities showing strongly modified optical response of the infrared-dressed molecule. The coherent excitation of molecular vibrational modes in combination with the modulation of electronic degrees of freedom due to vibronic coupling can lead to both enhanced vibronic coherence and control over vibrational sideband amplitudes. The additional coupling to an infrared cavity allows for the controlled suppression of undesired sidebands, an effect stemming from the Purcell enhancement of vibrational relaxation rates.

We investigate the experimental control of pair tunneling in a double-well potential using Floquet engineering. We demonstrate a crossover from a regime with density-assisted tunneling to dominant pair tunneling by tuning the effective interactions. Furthermore, we show that the pair tunneling rate can be enhanced not only compared to the Floquet-reduced single-particle tunneling but even beyond the static superexchange rate, while keeping the effective interaction in a relevant range.

Institute for Structure and Function and Department of Physics and Chongqing Key Laboratory for Strongly Coupled Physics, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400044, People's Republic of China and Center of Quantum Materials and Devices, Chongqing University, Chongqing 400044, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent studies focus on creating hybrid systems of magnets and superconductors that exhibit topological superconductivity.
  • The research demonstrates that using Floquet engineering with antiferromagnetic layers and s-wave superconductors can induce chiral topological superconductivity through light interaction that disrupts time-reversal symmetry.
  • The ability to control these topological phases with elliptically polarized light offers a novel way to manipulate superconducting properties through related changes in valley pairs, making this approach promising for experimental exploration.

Quantum Turnstiles for Robust Measurement of Full Counting Statistics.

Phys Rev Lett

December 2024

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey 08544, USA.

We present a scalable protocol for measuring full counting statistics (FCS) in experiments or tensor-network simulations. In this method, an ancilla in the middle of the system acts as a turnstile, with its phase keeping track of the time-integrated particle flux. Unlike quantum gas microscopy, the turnstile protocol faithfully captures FCS starting from number-indefinite initial states or in the presence of noisy dynamics.

Topological phases are robust against weak perturbations, but break down when disorder becomes sufficiently strong. However, moderate disorder can also induce topologically nontrivial phases. Thouless pumping, as a (1+1)D counterpart of the integer quantum Hall effect, is one of the simplest manifestations of topology.

Milling chatter, a form of self-excited vibration, can cause significant damage in machining and manufacturing processes. By selecting appropriate milling parameters, milling chatter can be effectively mitigated without sacrificing milling efficiency. Within the framework of the semi-discretization scheme, this paper introduces the Newton-Simpson-based predictor-corrector methods to compute milling stability lobe diagrams.
