The aim of the article is to present the evolution of professional liability in psychiatry from law 36 of 1904 to today. Through an examination of the doctrinal positions and of the jurisprudential expression it was possible to highlight three distinct phases in which professional responsibility has declined over the years. A custodial phase, in which the spirit that animated the law of psychiatric assistance was inspired by principles of social defense and the responsibility of the psychiatrist was recognized mainly in the lack of custody of the psychiatric patient. A phase of indulgence, in which, like other disciplines, the psychiatrist was recognized with "reduced impunity" due to an alleged "special difficulty" in exercising the medical profession. A phase of empowerment, in which the doctor in general, and the psychiatrist in particular, was confronted with empowering positions that led to convictions. An examination of the application of the guarantee position to psychiatry allows us to highlight current difficulties, sometimes a legacy of the past.

Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a chronic metabolic disorder that has high comorbidity with mental disorders. The genetic relationships between T2D and depression are far from being well understood.
Methods: We performed genetic correlation, polygenic overlap, Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses, cross-trait meta-analysis, and Bayesian colocalization analysis to assess genetic relationships between T2D and depression, in the forms of major depressive disorder (MDD) and depressed affect (DAF).

While clozapine is the most effective antipsychotic drug, its use is limited due to hematological adverse effects involving the reduction of granulocyte counts with potential life-threatening agranulocytosis. It is not yet possible to predict or prevent the risk of agranulocytosis, and the mechanisms are unknown but likely related to clozapine metabolism. Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of clozapine metabolism and clozapine-induced agranulocytosis have identified few genetic loci.

Consistent evidence has documented the cross-sectional and longitudinal associations of externalizing psychopathology with personality and behavioral traits, suggesting the presence of a broad, underlying liability to externalizing. In one of the first studies of its kind, we use a large, representative sample of youth ( = 2,245 twins and their siblings) to evaluate the evidence of an externalizing spectrum model, which includes psychopathology, personality, and behavioral traits and spans normal and pathological variation. We examine evidence for the inclusion of 15 candidate traits, from the domains of general and pathological personality, temperament, and aggression, in a model that includes dimensions of common childhood externalizing psychopathology.
