Integrating Remote Sensing and Soil Features for Enhanced Machine Learning-Based Corn Yield Prediction in the Southern US.

Sensors (Basel)

January 2025

United States Department of Agriculture-Agriculture Research Service, Grassland Soil and Water Research Laboratory, Temple, TX 76502, USA.

Efficient and reliable corn ( L.) yield prediction is important for varietal selection by plant breeders and management decision-making by growers. Unlike prior studies that focus mainly on county-level or controlled laboratory-scale areas, this study targets a production-scale area, better representing real-world agricultural conditions and offering more practical relevance for farmers.

Comparative Analysis of Chemical Composition and Antibacterial Activity of Essential Oils from Five Varieties of Extracted via Supercritical Fluid Extraction.

Molecules

January 2025

Hainan Key Laboratory of Storage and Processing of Fruits and Vegetables, Agricultural Products Processing Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, Zhanjiang 524001, China.

This study aimed to determine the chemical composition of five essential oils (LEOs) using the gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy technique and to assess their antibacterial activity against four marine species, including , , , and . Sensitivity tests were performed using the disk diffusion and serial dilution methods. The results showed that all five LEOs exhibited antibacterial activity against the four tested marine species.

We incorporated Espaloma forcefield parameterization into MoSDeF tools for performing molecular dynamics simulations of organic molecules with HOOMD-Blue. We compared equilibrium morphologies predicted for perylene and poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) with the ESP-UA forcefield in the present work against prior work using the OPLS-UA forcefield. We found that, after resolving the chemical ambiguities in molecular topologies, ESP-UA is similar to GAFF.

Cigarette brand variant names and characteristics such as the taste and feel of the smoke can mislead consumers into believing some products are less harmful. We assessed the characteristics of three common cigarette variants sold in Australia, "gold", "blue" and "red", to determine which characteristics differed by color, and which affected tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide (TNCO) yields. TNCO yields, physical parameters, expanded tobacco and filter ventilation were measured in cigarette color variants from eight brands.

According to the Sustainable Blue Economy Communication, the Farm to Fork Strategy, and the European Green Deal, novel business models supporting the use of resources from oceans and seas are of primary importance. Interestingly, several infesting seaweeds are consumed as foods in Asia and are fundamental ingredients in several traditional dishes. Herein, according to the circular economy approach, we investigate the use of (CL) as a larvae feed in different percentages: 20%, 50%, and 100%, respectively.
