With the rapid expansion of mindfulness and its incorporation into the "third wave" of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), there has been evident confusion about what mindfulness is and how it relates to this broader category of interventions. In this article, I define mindfulness and CBT, and differentiate them while highlighting their substantial overlap. Specifically, I discuss the Buddhist Psychological Model and how it relates to the foundational cognitive model, demonstrating the common threads that run across these seemingly disparate philosophies.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe convergence of trauma symptomatology, mental health symptoms, family and social difficulties, and intersectionality of diverse sexual and gender minority (SGM) individual issues is complex, multi-faceted, and challenging for the individuals in Cambodia who suffer them and for the therapists in Cambodia who meet individuals in treatment. We documented and analyzed the perspectives of mental health therapists in the context of a randomized control trial (RCT) intervention within the Mekong Project in Cambodia. The research questions explored perceptions of therapists' care of mental health clients, therapist wellbeing, and experiences of navigating within a research environment in which SGM citizens with mental health concerns receive treatment.

The relationship between monetary policy and financial stability has gained importance in recent years as Central Bank policy rates neared the zero-lower bound. We use an SVAR model to study the impact of monetary policy shocks on three proxies for financial stability as well as a proxy for economic growth. Monetary policy is represented by policy rates for the emerging market economies and shadow rates for the advanced economies in our paper.
