The matching of root system is a key factor driving the resistance of plant community to soil erosion. In this study, Amoeba graphical method was used to establish a root framework erosion resistance index (ERI, %) from three dimensions of root morphology, quantity and spatial concerns to quantify the effective of root erosion resistance by plant community. We analyzed root growth characteristics of plant community from abandoned land, and communities in loess hilly area. The results showed that the parameters of constructing the root framework erosion resistance index included the acting coefficient of root framework (), root density (, kg·m), root framework degree (), soil bulk density (, g·cm), and soil and water conservation coefficient (). The equation could be expressed as =××100%. This root framework erosion resistance index well represented the erosion resistance effects of plant root system. Logarithmic function could better fit the relationship between soil erosion resis-tance ability and root framework erosion resistance index. Our findings would provide scientific reference for the construction of anti-erosion vegetation community and assessment of ecological construction.

The dataset [1] hosts pedological info and images of the lands -locally known as - of the outcropping gypsiferous core of the Barbastro-Balaguer anticline (Fig. 1). It stands out in the landscape for the linear reliefs due to outcrops of dipping strata with differential resistance to erosion, and also because of its whitish color (Fig.

Analysis of clinical characteristics and laboratory examination data of 112 cases of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia in children.

Medicine (Baltimore)

November 2024

Luoyang Research Center for Inheritance and Innovation of Chinese Historical Civilization, Luoyang Institute of Science and Technology School of Marxism (LIT), Luoyang City, Henan Province, China.

The aim of this study was to analyze the clinical characteristics of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection in children and provide a basis for the diagnosis and treatment of MP and refractory Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) in children. A total of 112 children with MPP admitted to Luoyang Maternal and Child Health Hospital between January 31, 2023 and December 31, 2023 were studied, and their clinical characteristics were retrospectively analyzed, including children's general data, clinical symptoms, imaging changes, bronchoscopy, and laboratory data, including inflammatory factors such as C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), interleukin-6 (IL-6), bacterial culture results of bronchoalveolar lavage or sputum, and results of MP culture and detection of MP drug resistance gene loci 23sRNA A2063G and A2064G. Among the 112 children with MPP included in the analysis, 48 were males (42.

Hydraulic structures are frequently subjected to soft-water or acidic environments, necessitating serious consideration of the long-term effects of calcium leaching on the durability of concrete structures. Three types of common Portland cement (ordinary Portland cement, moderate-heat cement, and low-heat cement) paste samples widely applied to hydraulic concrete were immersed in a 6 mol/L NHCl solution to simulate accelerated calcium leaching behavior. The mass loss, porosity, leaching depth, compressive strength, and Ca/Si ratio of the three types of pastes were measured at different immersion stages (0, 14, 28, 56, 91, 140, and 180 days).

Asphalt pavement, widely utilized in transportation infrastructure due to its favourable properties, faces significant degradation from chloride salt erosion in coastal areas and winter deicing regions. In this study, two commonly used asphalt binders, 70# base asphalt and SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene)-modified asphalt, were utilized to study the chloride salt erosion effect on asphalt pavement by immersing materials in laboratory-prepared chloride salt solutions. The conventional properties and adhesion of asphalt were assessed using penetration, softening point, ductility, and pull-off tests, while Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) elucidated the erosion mechanism.

Failure and Degradation Mechanisms of Steel Pipelines: Analysis and Development of Effective Preventive Strategies.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Hydrotechnical Unit, KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., Polkowicka 52, 59-305 Rudna, Poland.

The increasing challenges related to the reliability and durability of steel pipeline infrastructure necessitate a detailed understanding of degradation and failure mechanisms. This study focuses on selective corrosion and erosion as critical factors, analyzing their impact on pipeline integrity using advanced methods, including macroscopic analysis, corrosion testing, microscopic examination, tensile strength testing, and finite element method (FEM) modeling. Selective corrosion in the heat-affected zones (HAZs) of longitudinal welds was identified as the dominant degradation mechanism, with pit depths reaching up to 6 mm, leading to tensile strength reductions of 30%.
