The complex composition of real plastic wastes poses a significant challenge for their large-scale disposal. A responsive on-site compositional analysis of plastics is informative in choosing downstream processing methods. Nanocatalyst-based assay kit is highly qualified for this scene; however, there remain no efficient nanocatalysts for plastics due to their highly inert chemistry.

Background: The increasing prevalence of dementia and new therapeutic developments for Alzheimer's disease (AD) have created an urgent need for rapid and cost-effective methods to diagnose those affected in the early stages of the disease. Unlike emergency departments, memory clinics lack triage systems, e.g.

Knowledge of contaminant distribution and transport of contaminant plumes in groundwater is important for effective remediation. Tedious and expensive laboratory analyses could be supplemented with optical measurements such as fluorescence to offer a rapid alternative with the potential for on-site measurements. Here, we explore the applicability of fluorescence spectroscopy as an on-site alternative to identifying the extent of a groundwater contaminant plume in Grindsted, Denmark.

Since Candida albicans, a type of fungus, causes severe infections that pose a significant threat to human health, its rapid detection is critical in clinical antifungal therapy. Traditional fungal diagnostic approaches are largely based on the culture method. This method is time-consuming and laborious, taking about 48-72 h, and cannot identify emerging species, making it unsuitable for critically ill patients with bloodstream infections, sepsis, and so on.

Hydrogen peroxide (HO) finds extensive applications in various industries, particularly in the environmental field. The photocatalytic production of HO through the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) or the water oxidation reaction (WOR) offers a promising approach. However, several challenges hinder effective on-site production, such as the rapid electron-hole pair recombination, inefficient visible light utilization, and limited selectivity in HO formation.
