Objective: Evaluate the effect of parental protective factors on parental stress at time of NICU admission and prior to discharge.
Study Design: Parents of infants born at <35 weeks gestation were approached at a single level III NICU. Consenting parents completed a questionnaire on admission and prior to infant's discharge of demographic information and three validated instruments: (1) parental stress (PSS:NICU), (2) Parents' Assessment of Protective Factors (PAPF), and (3) health literacy (PHLAT-8).
Results: Mean PSS:NICU Total score was 2.8 ± 0.9 (Time 1) and 2.6 ± 1.1 (Time 2). Mean PAPF scores in all subcategories were high (means >3, ±0.3-0.5) (Time 1, Time 2). There was no clinically significant association between PSS:NICU scores and PAPF or any of the other measured variables.
Conclusion: PAPF and other commonly implicated factors were not associated with perceived self-reported parental stress at time of NICU admission and prior to discharge.

A 36-year-old woman diagnosed with complicated cholecystolithiasis underwent elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC), then converted to open cholecystectomy because of a massive intraoperative bleeding. Hemostasis was performed with clipping and suturing the source of bleeding. In post-operative period, the patient suffered from persistent anemia associated with hemoperitoneum diagnosed through abdominal CT scanning, in absence of any sign of active bleeding.

Cemented Sand, Gravel, and Rock (CSGR) dams have traditionally used either Conventional Vibrated Concrete (CVC) or Grout-Enriched Roller Compacted Concrete (GERCC) for protective and seepage control layers in low- to medium-height dams. However, these methods are complex, prone to interference, and uneconomical due to significant differences in the expansion coefficient, elastic modulus, and hydration heat parameters among CSGR, CVC, and GERCC. This complexity complicates quality control during construction, leading to the development of Grout-Enriched Vibrated Cemented Sand, Gravel, and Rock (GECSGR) as an alternative.

Background: Families impacted by the child welfare system (CWS) face increased risks of poverty, family dysfunction, and poor child outcomes. Strong support networks, comprised of formal support from government programs or service providers and informal support from family and friends, are an under-researched potential mechanism to facilitate family engagement and protect against child maltreatment.
Objective: This study's objective was to describe formal and informal supports among parents with substantiated maltreatment who recently entered the CWS to understand parents' situations and conditions.

Preterm births constitute a major public health issue and a chronic, cross-generational condition globally. Psychological and biological factors interact in a way that women from low socio-economic status (SES) are disproportionally affected by preterm delivery and at increased risk for the development of perinatal mental health problems. Low SES constitutes one of the most evident contributors to poor neurodevelopment of preterm infants.

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is provided by majority of reproductive clinics in the United States (US), and PGD is used in many in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures every year. PGD is extensively used to screen for certain genetic abnormalities and aneuploidy in individuals undergoing IVF. Genetic disorders are very prevalent in Saudi Arabia.
