Abnormal behaviors of tumors pose a risk to human survival. Thus, the detection of cancers at their initial stage is beneficial for patients and lowers the mortality rate. However, this can be difficult due to various factors related to imaging modalities, such as complex background, low contrast, brightness issues, poorly defined borders and the shape of the affected area. Recently, computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) models have been used to accurately diagnose tumors in different parts of the human body, especially breast, brain, lung, liver, skin and colon cancers. These cancers are diagnosed using various modalities, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), colonoscopy, mammography, dermoscopy and histopathology. The aim of this review was to investigate existing approaches for the diagnosis of breast, brain, lung, liver, skin and colon tumors. The review focuses on decision-making systems, including handcrafted features and deep learning architectures for tumor detection.

The development of mRNA vaccines represents a significant advancement in cancer treatment, with more than 120 clinical trials to date demonstrating their potential across various malignancies, including lung, breast, prostate, melanoma, and more challenging cancers such as pancreatic and brain tumors. These vaccines work by encoding tumor-specific antigens and immune-stimulating molecules, effectively activating the immune system to target and eliminate cancer cells. Despite these promising advancements, significant challenges remain, particularly in achieving efficient delivery and precise regulation of the immune response.

Eudesmane-type sesquiterpene lactone isoalantolactone 1 is of great interest due to its availability, biological activity and synthetic application. Respective series of original spirocyclic (11S,5') (1,2,3-triazoline-eudesma-4,15-enolides) and (11S)-aziridine-eudesma-4,15-enolides were efficiently synthesized via a chemoselective 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of organic azides to the exocyclic double bond of the lactone ring of isoalantolactone or 13E-(aryl)isoalantolactones by heating in DMF or toluene. The thermal reactions of isoalantolactone with benzyl azide, 2-azidoethanol, or n-butyl azide in 2-methoxyethanol afforded 13-(alkyamino)isoalantolactones formed as a mixture of (Z) and (E)-isomers.

The peripheral nervous system (PNS) includes all nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, comprising various cells like neurons and glial cells, such as schwann and satellite cells. The PNS is increasingly recognized for its bidirectional interactions with tumors, exhibiting both pro- and anti-tumor effects. Our review delves into the complex mechanisms underlying these interactions, highlighting recent findings that challenge the conventional understanding of PNS's role in tumorigenesis.
