Species-rich natural and semi-natural ecosystems are under threat owing to land use change. To conserve the biodiversity associated with these ecosystems, we must identify and target conservation efforts towards functionally important species and supporting habitats that create connections between remnant patches in the landscape. Here, we use a multi-layer network approach to identify species that connect a metanetwork of plant-bee interactions in remnant semi-natural grasslands which are biodiversity hotspots in European landscapes.

The paucity of prospective data on the subject of Watch and Wait for rectal cancer prompted the implementation of Norwait, a population-based study including rectal cancer patients after neoadjuvant therapy. The aim of the study was to assess the accuracy of clinical complete response (cCR) and quantify the regrowth rates. Norwait was a prospective population-based observational study with ethical approval (2017/935) registered at clinicaltrials.

Objective: To investigate the oncological outcomes after transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) for rectal cancer and risk factors for local recurrence (LR).
Background: A high LR rate with a multifocal pattern early after TaTME has been reported in Norway and the Netherlands, causing controversy over the oncological safety of this technique.
Methods: Twenty-six member institutions of the Japan Society of Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery participated in this retrospective cohort study.

Background: Some guidelines for rectal carcinoma consider 12 cm, measured by rigid endoscopy, to be the cutoff tumor height for optional neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy. Measuring differences of only a few centimeters may predetermine the choice of further therapy. However, rigid endoscopy may exhibit similar operator dependence to most other clinical examination methods.

Introduction: The number and invasion depth of endometriotic bowel lesions, total length of bowel affected by endometriosis, lesion-to-anal verge distance, and extent of pouch of Douglas obliteration are important factors in preoperatively determining risk and complexity of endometriosis surgery. The intra- and interobserver reproducibility of transvaginal ultrasound in the evaluation of many of these parameters has not yet been investigated. Our study aimed to assess the intra- and interobserver reproducibility of transvaginal ultrasound between an experienced and less experienced examiner for all of these parameters.
