Colloidal synthesis of nanoparticles (NP) has advanced tremendously over the past 25 years, with an increasing number of research papers introducing nanomaterials with a variety of compositions, shapes, sizes, and phases. Although much progress has been achieved, commonly used synthetic procedures often fail to reproduce results, and the fine details of the syntheses are often disregarded. Reproducibility issues in synthesis can be ascribed to the effects of impurities, trace amounts of chemical moieties which significantly affect the reaction products. Impurities in NP synthesis are rarely reported or regularly studied, despite their impact, deleterious, or beneficial. This topical review discusses several case studies of colloidal NP synthesis where the sources and the chemistry of impurities are highlighted, and their role is examined.

Inflammation-proliferation transition plays a key role in the successful healing of a common burn type, second-degree burn. Gynura procumbens in vitro adventitious root nanohydrogel is currently being studied for its immunomodulatory to improve reparative environment. Root production and nanohydrogel preparation was done respectively by in vitro propagation and emulsion/ solvent diffusion with carbomer as a polymer.

In this study, we demonstrate a novel and efficient fabrication methodology for nonclose-packed, two-dimensional (2D) colloidal crystals exhibiting square lattice structures. In our recent work, we detailed the formation of 2D colloidal crystals via the electrostatic adsorption of three-dimensional (3D) charged colloidal crystals onto oppositely charged substrates. These 3D colloidal crystals possessed a face-centered cubic (FCC) lattice structure with their (111) planes aligned parallel to the substrate, facilitating the formation of 2D crystals with triangular lattice arrangements upon adsorption.

Platelet-derived extracellular vesicles (PEVs) are rich in growth factors and have significant potential for facilitating tissue repair and regeneration. Therefore, we conducted this meta-analysis to assess the efficacy of PEVs in treating diabetic wounds. To assess the efficacy and safety of PEVs in treating diabetic wounds, we conducted a systematic review of several databases and performed a meta-analysis using a random effects model.

Hybrid polyionic complexes (HPICs) are colloidal structures with a charged core rich in metal ions and a neutral hydrophilic corona. Their properties, whether as reservoirs or catalysts, depend on the accessibility and environment of the metal ions. This study demonstrates that modifying the coordination sphere of these ions can tune the properties of HPICs by altering the composition of the complexing block or varying formulation conditions.

Architecting Prussian blue analogue (PBA) cathodes with optimized synergistic bimetallic reaction centers is a paradigmatic strategy for devising high-energy sodium-ion batteries (SIBs); however, these cathodes usually suffer from fast capacity fading and sluggish reaction kinetics. To alleviate the above problems, herein, a series of early transition metal (ETM)-late transition metal (LTM)-based PBA (Fe-VO, Fe-TiO, Fe-ZrO, Co-VO, and Fe-Co-VO) cathode materials have been conveniently fabricated via an "acid-assisted synthesis" strategy. As a paradigm, the FeVO-PBA (FV) delivers a superb rate capability (148.
