Surgical resection remains the cornerstone for the curative treatment of oncological disease. In a situation when a tumour encases a critical arterial or venous structure, long term oncological control may be achieved only through careful preoperative planning within a multidisciplinary team incorporating oncological and vascular specialists. The present review addresses the principles in planning oncovascular surgery, describes the oncovascular procedure in pancreatic, liver, renal and endometriosis cancer as well as vascular involvement in retroperitoneal soft sarcoma and sarcoma in lower extremity. In conclusion, the present review highlights that major vessel involvement of a tumour mass should not necessarily be considered as a barrier to en bloc resection and hence curative oncosurgery procedure.

Hair follicle (HF) development and pigmentation are complex processes governed by various signaling pathways, such as TGF-β and FGF signaling pathways. Nestin + (neural crest like) stem cells are also expressed in HF stem cells, particularly in the bulge and dermal papilla region. However, the specific role and differentiation potential of these Nestin-positive cells within the HF remain unclear, especially regarding their contribution to melanocyte formation and hair pigmentation.

Objectives: This in vitro study investigated the interaction between human vocal fold fibroblasts (hVFF) and macrophages under the influence of cigarette smoke extract (CSE) and vibration as potential regulators of vocal fold (VF) inflammation.
Study Design: Experimental in vitro pilot study.
Methods: Immortalized hVFF were cultured in flexible-bottomed cell culture plates, treated with CSE, and subjected to static or dynamic conditions in a phonomimetic bioreactor.

Objectives: Although exercise-induced vascular adaptations have been extensively reported in racket sports athletes, the applicability of these findings to athletes in other overhead sports is unclear. This study aimed to investigate exercise-induced vascular adaptations in college male baseball players. Furthermore, since the training frequency of the upper arm may differ by baseball playing position, this study also focused on playing position-specific differences in brachial arterial adaptations.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a poorly reversible respiratory disorder distinguished by dyspnea, cough, expectoration and exacerbations due to abnormality of airways or emphysema. In this review, we consider the therapeutic potential of targeting Mammalian target of Rapamycin (mTOR) for treating COPD. The mTOR is a highly conserved serine-threonine protein kinase that integrates signals from growth factors and nutrients to control protein synthesis, lipid biogenesis and metabolism.

Aim: This study aimed to investigate the associations between hypothermia and mortality or poor neurological outcome in a nationwide cohort of drowning patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).
Methods: This nationwide, registry-based cohort study reported in-hospital data on drowning patients with OHCA following the Utstein Style For Drowning. Drowning patients with OHCA were identified in the Danish Cardiac Arrest Registry from 2016 to 2021.
