Dynamic signatures are recordings of signatures made on digitizing devices such as tablet PCs. These handwritten signatures contain both dynamic and spatial information on every data point collected during the signature movement and can therefore be described in the form of multivariate data. The management of dynamic signatures represents a challenge for the forensic science community through its novelty and the volume of data available. Much as for static signatures, the authenticity of dynamic signatures may be doubted, which leads to a forensic examination of the unknown source signature. The Bayes' factor, as measure of evidential support, can be assigned with statistical models to discriminate between competing propositions. In this respect, the limitations of existing probabilistic solutions to deal with dynamic signature evidence is pointed out and explained in detail. In particular, the necessity to remove the independence assumption between questioned and reference material is emphasized.

U and U are proven to be useful tracers to investigate upper-ocean hydrodynamics due to their source-specific isotopic ratios and conservative behaviors in the open ocean. However, their application in the Pacific Ocean has been limited by scarce observations and unclear source-term information. Here, we present our observations of U and U in the western North Pacific Subtropical Gyre (NPStG), showing the presence of a source of anthropogenic U featured by a low U/U ratio (∼1 × 10), which is an order of magnitude lower than the global fallout signature (∼2 × 10).

Adoptive cell therapies (ACT) have shown reduced efficacy against solid tumor malignancies compared to hematologic malignancies, partly due to the immunosuppressive nature of the tumor microenvironment (TME). ACT efficacy may be enhanced with pleiotropic cytokines that remodel the TME; however, their expression needs to be tightly controlled to avoid systemic toxicities. Here we show T cells can be armored with membrane-bound cytokines with surface expression regulated using drug-responsive domains (DRDs) developed from the 260-amino acid protein human carbonic anhydrase 2 (CA2).

In a complex dynamical system, noise, feedback, and external forces shape behavior that can range from regularity to high-dimensional chaos. Multiple feedback sources can significantly alter its dynamics, potentially even suppressing the system's output. This study investigates the impact of competing feedback sources on a stochastic complex dynamical system using a photonic neuron-a diode laser with external optical feedback.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease [MASLD] is a pervasive multifactorial health burden. Post-translational modifications [PTMs] of amino acid residues in protein domains demonstrate pivotal roles for imparting dynamic alterations in the cellular micro milieu. The crux of identifying novel druggable targets relies on comprehensively studying the etiology of metabolic disorders.

Periodically driven closed quantum systems are expected to eventually heat up to infinite temperature ; reaching a steady state described by a circular orthogonal ensemble (COE). However, such finite driven systems may exhibit sufficiently long prethermal regimes; their properties in these regimes are qualitatively different from that of their corresponding infinite temperature steady states. These, often experimentally relevant, prethermal regimes host a wide range of phenomena; they may exhibit dynamical localization and freezing, host Floquet scars, display signatures of Hilbert space fragmentation, and exhibit time crystalline phases.
