Dye-sensitized solar cells offer an alternative source for renewable energy by means of converting sunlight into electricity. While there are many studies concerning the development of DSSCs, comprehensive mathematical modelling of the devices is still lacking. Recent mathematical models are based on diffusion equations of electron density in the conduction band of the nano-porous semiconductor in dye-sensitized solar cells. Under linear diffusion and recombination, this paper provides analytical solutions to the diffusion equation. Further, Lie symmetry analysis is adopted in order to explore analytical solutions to physically relevant special cases of the nonlinear diffusion equations. While analytical solutions may not be possible, we provide numerical solutions, which are in good agreement with the results given in the literature.

In classical theory, heat conduction in solids is regarded as a diffusion process driven by a temperature gradient, whereas fluid transport is understood as convection process involving the bulk motion of the liquid or gas. In the framework of theory, which is directly built upon quantum mechanics without relying on measured parameters or phenomenological models, we observed and investigated the fluid-like convective transport of energy carriers in solid heat conduction. Thermal transport, carried by phonons, is simulated in graphite by solving the Boltzmann transport equation using a Monte Carlo algorithm.

In this study, we present a comprehensive analysis of the motion of a tagged monomer within a Gaussian semiflexible polymer model. We carefully derived the generalized Langevin equation (GLE) that governs the motion of a tagged central monomer. This derivation involves integrating out all the other degrees of freedom within the polymer chain, thereby yielding an effective description of the viscoelastic motion of the tagged monomer.

Introduction: The identification of the physiological processes limiting carbon assimilation under water stress is crucial for improving model predictions and selecting drought-tolerant varieties. However, the influence of soil water availability on photosynthesis-limiting processes is still not fully understood. This study aimed to investigate the origins of photosynthesis limitations on potato () during a field drought experiment.

In this study, a simulation of the elementary chemical reactions during SiO film growth in a hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) reactor was carried out using a 2D model. For the 2D simulation, the continuity, momentum, heat, and diffusion equations were solved numerically by the software COMSOL Multiphysics based on the finite element method. The model allowed for the simulation of the key parameters of the HFCVD reactor.

The equilibrium potential of an ion species is a crucial concept for medical students, as it is a prerequisite to fully understanding the pathophysiology of K imbalances (hyperkalemia and hypokalemia) in clinical practice. However, it remains a challenging concept because current medical physiology textbooks are too simplistic and overlook several essential points. In this article, we present a total of five small but impactful additions to advance the introduction of the equilibrium potential that will eliminate confusion and facilitate mastery-level comprehension.
