The entropy of a pair of random variables is commonly depicted using a Venn diagram. This representation is potentially misleading, however, since the multivariate mutual information can be negative. This paper presents new measures of multivariate information content that can be accurately depicted using Venn diagrams for any number of random variables. These measures complement the existing measures of multivariate mutual information and are constructed by considering the algebraic structure of information sharing. It is shown that the distinct ways in which a set of marginal observers can share their information with a non-observing third party corresponds to the elements of a free distributive lattice. The redundancy lattice from partial information decomposition is then subsequently and independently derived by combining the algebraic structures of joint and shared information content.

With an aging global population, the number of older adults with age-related changes in the brain, including dementia, will continue to increase unless we can make progress in the early detection and treatment of such conditions. There is extensive literature on the effects of aging on the EEG, particularly a decline in the Peak Alpha Frequency (PAF), but here, in a reversal of convention, we used the EEG power-frequency spectrum to estimate chronological age. The motivation for this approach was that an individual's brain age might act as a proxy for their general brain functioning, whereby a discrepancy between chronological age and EEG age could prove clinically informative by implicating deleterious conditions.

Background: Composite measures represent a validated method for evaluating surgical care quality. We defined a modified Desirability Of Outcome Ranking (mDOOR) and compared it with textbook outcome (TO).
Methods: In this cohort study, patients undergoing curative-intent surgery for HCC were identified from an international cohort.

Objectives: To evaluate hospital outcomes and their predictors during the pandemic for patients with and without COVID-19, stratified by the presence of acute kidney injury (AKI).
Design: Retrospective observation study using the Hospital Episodes Statistics database for England.
Participants: 2 385 337 unique hospital admissions of adult patients from March 2020 to March 2021 in England.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an association between increasing posterior tibial slope and meniscal tears in a group of patients with isolated, noncontact and acute ACL ruptures from a large ACL registry.
Methods: Our institution's ACL Registry was consulted to identify patients between the age of 18 and 45 who underwent primary ACL reconstruction between Jan 2019 and July 2022 for acute, noncontact ACL rupture. Patients with pre-existing meniscal pathology, chronic ACL reconstructions, revisions, and multi-ligament knee injuries were excluded.

Objective: This study aimed to find biomarkers for assessing migrainous features, that is, migrainous headache, sensitivity to sound and light (phono- and photophobia) and visual aura in vestibular migraine (VM) patients.
Design: A retrospective cohort study.
Setting: University hospital.
