A field experiment was conducted to investigate the combined application effects of fly ash (FA) (0, 5%, 10%, and 15% (/) soil) and polyacrylamide (PAM) (0, 0.006% and 0.012% (/) soil) on the edge of Hobq Desert in Inner Mongolia, China from May 2016 to October 2018. Seven different ratios of FA and PAM were selected as evaluation objects, a total of 14 soil property indices and 9 growth indices were selected as evaluation indicators, and the entropy weight method was employed to evaluate the soil physicochemical properties and vegetation growth performances under FA and PAM amendments. The results showed that the F15P1 (15% FA + 0.006% PAM) and F5P1 (5% FA + 0.006% PAM) were the effective treatments for soil improvement and growth respectively. Considering the soil properties and growth in 2016-2018 synthetically, the highest score was observed in the F5P1, followed by the F5P2 (5% FA + 0.012% PAM) and F10P1 (10% FA + 0.006% PAM) treatments. The optimal amounts for FA and PAM should be recommended as 5% and 0.006%, respectively.

Gelonin is a ribosome-inactivating protein with extreme intracellular toxicity but poor permeation into cells. Targeted disruption of cell membranes to facilitate gelonin entry is explored for cancer and tissue ablation. We demonstrate a hundreds- to thousands-fold enhancement of gelonin cytotoxicity by pulsed electric fields in the T24, U-87, and CT26 cell lines.

Objective: Organophosphorus Nerve Agent, VX [(O-Ethyl S-diisopropylaminomethyl) methylphosphonothioate] compound interferes with acetylcholine signaling by targeting the AChE enzyme. Studies suggest that in nerve agents poisoning, non-cholinergic effects are also responsible for damage in peripheral tissues including long term damage in brain. Present study reports cholinergic and non-cholinergic effects of VX poisoning and their prevention by use of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) in addition to conventional antidotes atropine sulphate and 2-PAM chloride as an antioxidant.

Cytosine base editing is a powerful tool for making precise single nucleotide changes in cells and model organisms like zebrafish, which are valuable for studying human diseases. However, current base editors struggle to edit cytosines in certain DNA contexts, particularly those with GC and CC pairs, limiting their use in modelling disease-related mutations. Here we show the development of zevoCDA1, an optimized cytosine base editor for zebrafish that improves editing efficiency across various DNA contexts and reduces restrictions imposed by the protospacer adjacent motif.
