Objective: In this study, we aimed to examine the effect of myeloperoxidase on aneurysm rupture in patients with cerebral aneurysms with and without rupture.

Methods: The study included 53 patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage operated on due to cerebral aneurysm in our clinic, and 49 patients without subarachnoid hemorrhage. After the operation, the domes taken from the aneurysms were embedded in paraffin blocks and scored after hematoxylin and eosin and immunohistochemical staining was carried out.

Results: The myeloperoxidase score was 1 in 29.4% of the patients, 2 in 40.2%, 3 in 12.7%, and 4 in 17.6%. Multiple aneurysms were detected in 24.5% of the patients. The median myeloperoxidase score was higher in patients with bleeding aneurysms than those that did not bleed (3 vs. 1; P < 0.001). In addition, the ratio of patients with a myeloperoxidase score of 2 or above was higher among patients with bleeding aneurysms.

Conclusions: In our study, finding myeloperoxidase scores higher in cases of ruptured aneurysms compared with unruptured aneurysms reveals the relationship of myeloperoxidase with ruptured cerebral aneurysms.

The anatomical characteristics of middle cerebral artery aneurysms make endovascular treatment difficult. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of endovascular treatment of unruptured middle cerebral artery aneurysm in preventing rupture. A retrospective review of patients who underwent coil embolization for unruptured middle cerebral artery aneurysm between 2006 and 2022 at Nagoya University Hospital with at least 12 months followed up was conducted.

Selecting an appropriate microcatheter tip shape for paraclinoid aneurysms is difficult. Therefore, we devised an original simple and uniform three-dimensional (3D) spiral-shaping method of microcatheter and validated the characteristics and usefulness of this method for coil embolization of paraclinoid aneurysms using patient-specific silicone models. These silicone models were produced based on clinical data from four patients with four paraclinoid aneurysms that underwent endovascular treatment using the 3D spiral-shaping method.

Purpose: To investigate the safety and efficacy of endovascular embolization combined with external drainage for poor-grade ruptured cerebral aneurysms and risk factors.

Materials And Methods: Forty-six patients with poor-grade ruptured cerebral aneurysms treated with endovascular embolization combined with decompressive craniectomy and drainage were retrospectively enrolled.

Results: Coil embolization alone was performed in 29 (63.

Background And Purpose: This animal study was designed to evaluate in vivo the acute and short-term safety and efficacy of the new Artisse intrasaccular device (ISD) for aneurysm occlusion and to gain knowledge about the behavior in the aneurysms.

Materials And Methods: The device was implanted in 7 white New Zealand rabbits with bifurcation aneurysms. Immediate and 90-day angiographic follow-up as well as histologic and scanning electron microscope imaging were evaluated.

Background And Objectives: Direct visualization of the aneurysmal neck and its related perforating arteries during microsurgical clipping of posterior communicating artery (PCoA) aneurysms with posterior projection or true PCoA aneurysms through the pterional approach may be difficult and complicated.

Methods: From January 2022 to January 2023, the clinical and angiographic information regarding PCoA aneurysms were retrospectively collected. Among them, 10 consecutive patients with PCoA aneurysms treated with microsurgical clipping via the subtemporal approach in our single institution were included.
