Chronic fluorosis is often accompanied by neurological symptoms, leading to attention, memory and learning ability decline and causing tension, anxiety, depression, and other mental symptoms. In the present study, we analyzed the molecular mechanisms of SIRT1-BDNF regulation of PI3K-AKT, MAPK, and FOXO1A in F-treated BV2 cells. The cytotoxic effect of sodium fluoride (NaF) on BV2 cells was assessed using Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), crystal violet, and 5-ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) staining.

Despite recent substantial advances in water treatment, the ability to selectively degrade trace micropollutants in real waters with complex matrix components remains a grand challenge. Here we report rational crafting of graphene oxide (GO)-wrapped defective TiO2 composite catalysts that creates nanoscopic confinement over the TiO2 surface within GO, thereby enabling the selective degradation of micropollutants through effectively excluding natural organic matter (NOM) and anions from the nanoconfined catalytic sites. In contrast to unconfined counterparts, the nanoconfined composite catalysts retain high degradation efficiency when exposed to various concentrations of NOM and anions, even in real water samples.

Novel core-shell flower-like polyamine/C dual-functional magnetic titanium dioxide-based oligopolymer (FeO@fTiO-PAPMA/C) microspheres were synthesized and used as a magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) adsorbent to purify 52 pesticides in bayberry samples. The FeO@fTiO-PAPMA/C microspheres were fully characterized and it can obviously improve the purification ability of 52 pesticides in bayberry samples. Coupled to LC-MS/MS, the developed method indicated low limits of detection (LODs) and limits of quantification (LOQs) of 0.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains the most prevalent type of primary liver cancer worldwide. p53 is one of the most frequently mutated tumor-suppressor genes in HCC and its deficiency in hepatocytes triggers tumor formation in mice. To investigate iron metabolism during liver carcinogenesis, we employed a model of chronic carbon tetrachloride injections in liver-specific p53-deficient mice to induce liver fibrosis, cirrhosis and subsequent carcinogenesis.

The presence of trace metals (TMs) in river systems at certain levels can cause toxicity and pose significant risks to human health. In this study, nine TMs (Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn) were determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) in water samples collected from six major rivers from southwestern Nigeria during both dry and wet seasons. Across both seasons, the mean concentrations (mg/L) ranged from 0.
