Background: Postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) following pediatric liver transplantation (PLT) have not been comprehensively studied. This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between AKI and both 1-year CKD and mortality.
Methods: This retrospective study included 132 children aged between 3 months and 12 years who underwent PLT between 2017 and 2021.

Background Increased platelet activity in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) plays a key role in the development of vascular complications. Platelet indices such as mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), platelet large cell ratio (PLCR), and plateletcrit (PCT) reflect both the functional and morphological status of platelets. These indices are markers of inflammation and metabolic dysregulation, which are pivotal in diabetic vasculopathy.

In contrast, higher diversity of intestinal microbiota at the time of neutrophil engraftment has been associated with lower mortality. We aimed to better understand kidney outcomes in relation to changes in gut diversity in this patient population, hypothesizing that patients with lower microbiome diversity at baseline and at engraftment were at higher risk of developing kidney complications.

Background: Desmopressin acetate (1-deamino-8-d-arginine vasopressin-DDAVP) is a analogue of the antidiuretic hormone vasopressin. DDAVP is suggested to reduce bleeding after cardiac surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass. The aim of this study was to determine if DDAVP has any negative impact on renal function leading to acute kidney injury (AKI) and therefore increases the need for renal replacement therapy (RRT).
