The objective of the study was to describe a case-series of neural tube defects (NTD) with an abnormal intracranial translucency (IT) detected during the first-trimester ultrasound scan, performed on a low-risk obstetric population in Mexico. Certified Fetal Medicine specialists performed all US scans; the IT was assessed using the mid-sagittal view of the fetal head, which is already systematically used for nuchal translucency and nasal bone evaluation. During the study, we were able to find that eight fetuses had an absence of the intracranial translucency, out of which two were reassessed at 14 weeks' gestation and IT was normal, six of them were later diagnosed to have an NTD that consisted in spina bifida aperta ( = 5) and encephalocele ( = 1). Conclusion: As previous studies have shown, IT evaluation during the first-trimester US routine scan may be a useful screening marker for early detection of NTDs.

Background And Objective: Imaging methodologies such as, computed tomography (CT) aid in three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of patient-specific aneurysms. The radiological data is useful in understanding their location, shape, size, and disease progression. However, there are serious impediments in discerning the blood vessel wall thickness due to limitations in the current imaging modalities.

Aneurysmal rupture is associated with wall thinning, but the mechanism is poorly understood. This study aimed to characterize the three-dimensional wall-thickness distributions of unruptured intracranial aneurysms. Five aneurysmal tissues were investigated using micro-computed tomography.

Unlabelled: Objectives-To evaluate ultrasound markers during a first-trimester (FT) routine ultrasound examination for an early detection of open spina bifida (OSB) and to correlate the sonographic findings with the morpho-histological ones.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective research was performed using data from foetuses that underwent FT anatomy scans (FTAS) with a gestational age between 11 weeks and 13 weeks and 6 days in the Prenatal Diagnostic Unit of the Clinical Emergency County Hospital Craiova from October 2022 until September 2023.

Results: The study included 648 FT singleton pregnancies and 5 OSB cases were detected.

Background And Importance: Nonpowder firearm injuries to the head pose major health risks, with retained fragments potentially causing harmful sequelae that require neurosurgical intervention.

Clinical Presentation: We report the case of 2-year-old girl who sustained an accidental gunshot wound to the head. She sustained a penetrating ballistic intracranial injury caused by a BB shot from a rifle.

Background And Purpose: The translucent area on the surface of intracranial aneurysms (IAs) is associated with rupture risk. In the present study, the Polyflow module of the Ansys software was used to simulate and analyze the thickness of the aneurysm wall to detect whether it was "translucent" and to assess the rupture risk.

Methods: Forty-five patients with 48 IAs who underwent microsurgery were retrospectively reviewed.
