In this paper, we study the implications of using a form of network coding known as Random Linear Coding (RLC) for unicast communications from an economic perspective by investigating a simple scenario, in which several network nodes, the users, download files from the Internet via another network node, the sender, and the receivers as users pay a certain price to the sender for this service. The mean packet delay for a transmission scheme with RLC is analyzed and applied into an optimal pricing model to characterize the optimal admission rate, price and revenue. The simulation results show that RLC achieves better performance in terms of both mean packet delay and revenue compared to the basic retransmission scheme.

Chemical release data are essential for performing chemical risk assessments to understand the potential exposures arising from industrial processes. Often, these data are unknown or unavailable and must be estimated. A case study of volatile organic compound releases during extrusion-based additive manufacturing is used here to explore the viability of various regression methods for predicting chemical releases to inform chemical assessments.

Background: Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) is a painful condition that can impair a patient's quality of life. If nonoperative measures fail, progressively more invasive treatment options may be required. This clinical trial aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasound-guided leukocyte-rich platelet-rich plasma (LR-PRP) injections in the treatment of refractory GTPS caused by bursitis and/or gluteal tendinopathy.

Background: Obtaining information about the growth rates of animals' organs and tissues can help understand their meat production potential and determine the ideal slaughter weight (SW).
Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effects of production system and SW on the allometric growth of the non-carcass components, carcass cuts, and hind limb tissues of Kivircik lambs.
Methods: A total of 54 single-born male lambs were randomly allocated into production systems (concentrate- and pasture-based) and SW groups: 25-26 kg (LOW), 30-31 kg (MEDIUM), and 35-36 kg (HIGH).

High-Arctic environments are facing an elevated pace of warming and increasing human activities, making them more susceptible to the introduction and spread of alien species. We investigated the role of human disturbance in facilitating the spread of a native plant () in a high-Arctic natural environment close to Isfjord Radio station and along adjacent hiking trails at Kapp Linné, Svalbard. We reconstructed the spatial pattern of the arrival and spread of at Kapp Linné by combining historical records of the species occurrence (1928-2018) with a contemporary survey of the plant abundance along the main hiking trail (2023 survey) and tested the relative effects of altitude and proximity to hiking trails on the species density via a generalised linear model (GLM).

This tutorial provides guidelines for conducting linear mixed effects (LME) analyses for simple designs, aimed at researchers familiar with t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and linear regression. First, we compare LME analyses with traditional methods when participants are the only source of random variation. We show that LME analysis is more interesting as soon as you have more than one observation per participant per condition.
