In this paper, we present a review of recent developments on the κ -deformed statistical mechanics in the framework of the information geometry. Three different geometric structures are introduced in the κ -formalism which are obtained starting from three, not equivalent, divergence functions, corresponding to the κ -deformed version of Kullback-Leibler, "Kerridge" and Brègman divergences. The first statistical manifold derived from the κ -Kullback-Leibler divergence form an invariant geometry with a positive curvature that vanishes in the κ → 0 limit. The other two statistical manifolds are related to each other by means of a scaling transform and are both dually-flat. They have a dualistic Hessian structure endowed by a deformed Fisher metric and an affine connection that are consistent with a statistical scalar product based on the κ -escort expectation. These flat geometries admit dual potentials corresponding to the thermodynamic Massieu and entropy functions that induce a Legendre structure of κ -thermodynamics in the picture of the information geometry.

Myocyte disarray and fibrosis are underlying pathologies of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) caused by genetic mutations. However, the extent of their contributions has not been extensively evaluated. In this study, we investigated the effects of genetic mutations on myofiber function and fibrosis patterns in HCM.

We present a comparative experimental study of supercontinuum generation in undoped scintillator crystals: bismuth germanate (BGO), yttrium orthosilicate (YSO), lutetium oxyorthosilicate (LSO), lutetium yttrium oxyorthosilicate (LYSO) and gadolinium gallium garnet (GGG), pumped by 180 fs fundamental harmonic pulses of an amplified Yb:KGW laser. In addition to these materials, experiments in yttrium aluminium garnet (YAG), potassium gadolinium tungstate (KGW) and lithium tantalate (LT) were performed under identical experimental settings (focusing geometry and sample thickness), which served for straightforward comparison of supercontinuum generation performances. The threshold and optimal (that produces optimized red-shifted spectral extent) pump pulse energies for supercontinuum generation were evaluated from detailed measurements of spectral broadening dynamics.

Despite recent advancements in organic photovoltaics (OPVs), further improvements in power conversion efficiency (PCE) and device lifetime are necessary for commercial viability. Strategies such as optimizing the molecular orientation and minimizing the charge traps of organic films are particularly effective in enhancing photovoltaic performance. In this study, we successfully utilized vacuum electrospray deposition (VESD) to achieve favourable face-on stacking geometries while preserving the integrity of the interfaces in poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT): [6,6]-phenyl-C-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) bulk heterojunction (BHJ) films.

The regulation of mitotic spindle positioning and orientation is central to the morphogenesis of developing embryos and tissues. In many multicellular contexts, cell geometry has been shown to have a major influence on spindle positioning, with spindles that commonly align along the longest cell shape axis. To date, however, we still lack an understanding of how the nature and amplitude of intracellular forces that position, orient, or hold mitotic spindles depend on cell geometry.

Insulin-secreting allogeneic cell therapies are a promising treatment for type 1 diabetes, with the potential to eliminate hypoglycemia and long-term complications of the disease. However, chronic systemic immunosuppression is necessary to prevent graft rejection, and the acute risks associated with immunosuppression limit the number of patients who can be treated with allogeneic cell therapies. Islet macroencapsulation in a hydrogel biomaterial is one proposed method to reduce or eliminate immune suppression; however, macroencapsulation devices suffer from poor oxygen transport and limited efficacy as they scale to large animal model preclinical studies and clinical trials.
